Look, I’ve stayed in my fair share of Bologna hotels, and most of them stick you in some generic spot where you need a map just to find a decent cappuccino. But Urbanicooh Asinelli? This place gets it. You’re literally three floors up on Via Clavature – and if you don’t know Clavature, it’s basically the street that connects you to everything that matters in Bologna’s centro storico. I mean, you walk out the door and you’re practically breathing on Piazza Maggiore. Not “near” the piazza, not “a short stroll” – you’re actually there.

The balcony situation is honestly what sold me on this place. When they say “Balcony on Piazza Maggiore” in the name, they’re not kidding around. You can sit out there with your morning coffee (or evening Aperol, let’s be real) and watch the whole theater of Bologna life unfold below. Students rushing to classes, tourists doing that slow-walking thing with their phones out, locals cutting through on their way to the market at Quadrilatero – it’s like having front-row seats to the city. The building itself has that slightly worn Italian charm that actually feels authentic, not like someone tried too hard to make it look “historic.” You’ll hear some street noise, sure, but it’s the good kind – church bells, animated conversations, the occasional Vespa. It’s Bologna being Bologna.

What really impressed me was how they’ve managed to balance the whole “living in the center of everything” vibe without making you feel like you’re camping in a tourist trap. The rooms are thoughtfully done – not flashy, but comfortable in that way where you actually want to hang out instead of just crash for the night. And honestly, the location does half the work for you. You’re a two-minute walk from Basilica di San Petronio, you can see the Due Torri from certain angles, and when you want to eat (which, in Bologna, is constantly), you’ve got Via del Pescherie Vecchie right there with all those incredible food stalls. Plus – and this might sound minor but trust me on this – being on the third floor means you get actual light and air circulation, which is not always a given in these medieval city centers. The 8.7 rating makes sense once you’re there; it’s the kind of place where the location and genuine character outweigh any small quirks. You’re not just staying near Bologna’s heart – you’re actually in it.

  This was a very central location with stunning views of the piazza. Surrounded by the fabulous street life of Bologna. Super easy to co-ordinate access and parking. Highly recommend!!

  Location was fantastic and the apartment was very clean. The host is also very responsive and instructions are well explained.
  
  What could be improved: The view is exceptional however I did not realize it was not full floor to ceiling windows. Regardless it was superb.
  I think a little table and 2 chairs would be great for the balcony. Coffee there would be magnificent. As for the late night noise from the piazza it did not bother us.

  Perfect location! Couldn’t ask for more. Right on Piazza Maggiore and walking distance to most of the city’s main attractions. The bar downstairs is awesome and the foodie street is on your doorstep. We were very happy to stay here.
  
  What could be improved: Very minor things, but the living room was not planned particularly well for the number of people that can be accommodated in the flat. There is only 1 sofa that seats 2, we were 3 so even though you can use the dining chairs it wasn’t the most comfortable area where we could hang out together.
  
  The other minor point is that there is only 1 roll of toilet paper provided. Not a big deal but when you’re staying for a few days, you use it up and it’s a very awkward item to run out of 😂
