ALEMANNI HOUSE Overview
Look, I’ve stayed in my fair share of Bologna hotels, and ALEMANNI HOUSE actually caught me off guard – in the best way possible. When you’re walking down Via Mazzini looking for number 79, you might wonder if you’ve got the right address since it’s tucked into “INTERNO 1” (basically means it’s set back from the street). But honestly, that’s part of what makes this place special. You’re right in the heart of things but somehow insulated from all the Via Mazzini foot traffic and late-night chatter.
The whole setup feels more like staying at a sophisticated friend’s apartment than a traditional hotel – which I mean in the best way. The rooms have this understated elegance that doesn’t scream “tourist accommodation,” and you know what? That 9.1 rating makes complete sense once you’re there. The staff actually knows the neighborhood, not just the standard tourist script. When I asked about breakfast spots, they pointed me toward this little place locals frequent instead of the obvious café around the corner that charges double for mediocre coffee. Small thing, but it tells you something about how they operate.
What really sold me was the location context – you’re literally a five-minute walk from Piazza Maggiore, but you’re also positioned perfectly for exploring the university quarter and those winding medieval streets that most visitors never find. The morning sounds are church bells and bicycle wheels on cobblestones, not traffic horns. Parking can be tricky in this part of Bologna (it always is), but they actually help you figure out the ZTL zones and where you can legally leave your car without getting a ticket – trust me, this matters more than you think. The building itself has that solid, old-world feel without being stuffy or overdone. After a long day of wandering around eating tortellini and dodging students on bikes, coming back here feels like retreating to somewhere that gets Bologna right – refined but not pretentious, comfortable but not generic. For a 4-star place, it punches above its weight.

Lovely appartment with everything you will need for a stay in Bologna. Missed nothing and had everything for our 3 day stay at Bologna.
Communication with host was great and easy with booking app or by telephone.
You have local parking areas (7.5 per day) around the house and a busstop directly in front of the door. A little Café is just around the corner as well.
Walking 20-25 minutes brings you directly to the center.
What could be improved: Nothing to add.Superb – Hideki from Kosovo – 30 June 2023 (9/10)
While there was a distance from the railway station or the city center, bus access was easy & perfect with Google Map routing. The main room was large and comfortable, with a wide kitchen space. Bed room was a bit dark but rather convenient for good sleep. Stable wifi.
