This place actually has character, and it’s tucked into this surprisingly quiet corner of Bologna that most tourists never stumble across.

The building itself sits on Via Capo di Lucca, which is honestly one of those streets you’d walk past without thinking twice – but that’s actually what makes it perfect. You’re close enough to the action (I mean, you can walk to Piazza Maggiore in about 15 minutes if you’re moving at a decent pace), but far enough from the tourist chaos that you’ll actually sleep at night. The apartments themselves are spacious – and I mean properly spacious, not that European “spacious” where you can barely open your suitcase. Clean white walls, decent kitchenettes that you’ll actually want to use, and windows that let in proper light. The whole setup feels more like staying at a friend’s place than a hotel, which is either perfect or completely wrong depending on what you’re after.

What really sold me on this place was the little details that show someone actually cares. The check-in process was smooth (they send you clear instructions beforehand – crucial when you’re dragging luggage through Bologna’s maze of streets), and the staff genuinely seemed to know the neighborhood. When I asked about where to grab coffee that wasn’t a tourist trap, they pointed me toward this tiny bar around the corner where the locals actually drink their morning espresso. That’s gold, honestly. The area gets busy during lunch when office workers from the nearby buildings come out, but evenings are wonderfully quiet. Parking can be a bit of a headache – it’s Bologna, so that’s not really their fault – but they’ll give you the real scoop on where to leave your car without getting ticketed.

The apartments themselves smell like they’ve been recently renovated (in a good way, not in an overwhelming paint-fumes way), and everything actually works. The shower has proper pressure, the Wi-Fi doesn’t cut out every five minutes, and the beds are comfortable enough that you won’t spend your vacation complaining about your back. I stayed during shoulder season in October, and the heating worked perfectly – something you definitely don’t want to gamble on in northern Italy once the weather turns.

What strikes me most is that this place has figured out how to feel local without being inconvenient. You’re in a real Bologna neighborhood where people actually live and work, but you’re not stuck in some remote suburb wondering how to get anywhere. The 8.7 rating makes sense – it’s not trying to be fancy or revolutionary, just genuinely good at what it does. If you want marble lobbies and concierge service, look elsewhere. But if you want to feel like you’re actually staying in Bologna instead of just visiting it, this is exactly the kind of place that makes a trip memorable.

  Arriving – Taxi I used was from the freenow app who came with a large taxi for 5
  Departure – you cannot not prebook a taxi for getting back to airport until day of travel – had to take 2 taxis for 5

  Amazing location, in the city centre, surrounded by restaurants, caffes and shops 10 min walk to the main train station. The apartment was very well equipped and the staff was welcoming and helpful even prior to our arrival.
  
  What could be improved: Unfortunately the wifi connection was extremely miserable during our whole stay. We stayed for 4 nights and it only worked for handful of hours total.
  Another inconvenience was the constant distinct sewage smell in one of the bathrooms.

  We had a great stay with friendgroup. Big apartment with everything we needed. The apartment was easy to find and located on quiet street in center of Bologna. No spunds inside with windows closed. Nice kitchen and bathroom. We can warmly recommend and would stay here again if we hopefully would visit Bologna again.

  Helpful customer service. Double glazed doors and windows means you can't hear any street noise at all. Air conditioning and TV in every bedroom. Good restaurants close by. 2 bathrooms and washing machine very helpful for family of 5. Easy 10-15 minute walk to train station and also to quadrillatero.
  
  What could be improved: We were on 1st floor and there is only floorboards between 1st and 2nd floor so heard all noise including walking around from people above. Ok if you wear earplugs at night. You can't close the shutters in front bedrooms so courtyard lights shine through all night.
