Azeglio Luxury Homes Overview

You know what caught me off guard about Azeglio Luxury Homes? It’s actually tucked into this gorgeous residential street that feels way more authentic than the tourist-heavy zones around Piazza Maggiore. Via Massimo d’Azeglio is one of those wide, tree-lined boulevards that locals use as their daily walking route – I mean, you’ll see people heading to work, walking their dogs, stopping at the corner bar for morning espresso. It’s proper Bologna life, which honestly makes the whole experience feel less like staying in a hotel and more like you’ve got a really nice apartment in the city.

The building itself has that solid, elegant feel you get with Italian architecture from the early 1900s – high ceilings, thick walls that actually keep the street noise down (crucial when you’re this close to the city center), and these beautiful original details they’ve kept intact. The apartments are spacious in that way that surprises Americans especially – Italian “luxury” here means room to breathe, not just fancy finishes. Though speaking of finishes, they’ve done a thoughtful job updating everything without making it feel sterile. The kitchens are actually functional if you want to grab ingredients from Mercato delle Erbe, which is just a pleasant ten-minute walk away. I picked up some incredible mortadella there one morning and made myself a proper sandwich – something you definitely can’t do at most hotels.

What I really appreciated was how they’ve struck this balance between being professional and feeling… well, human. Check-in was smooth, but not in that overly rehearsed way. The staff knows the neighborhood – they’ll tell you that the best aperitivo spot is actually around the corner on Via del Pratello, not the more obvious choices tourists usually hit. Parking can be a bit tricky (it’s Bologna, after all), but they’ve got arrangements with a nearby garage that saves you from circling the block endlessly. The 7.8 rating feels about right honestly – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in town, but it delivers on what matters. You’re a five-minute walk from the university area, fifteen minutes on foot to the main piazzas, and close enough to the train station that you’re not lugging your suitcase across the entire city. The morning sounds are actually quite lovely – church bells, the occasional delivery truck, people chatting as they head to work. It’s the kind of place where you wake up feeling like you’re experiencing Bologna rather than just visiting it.

Reviews of Azeglio Luxury Homes

  • Superb – Bozionelos from Greece – 12 May 2025 (9/10)

The location is ideal for a long weekend in Bologna. The historical centre and most must-visit spots are within walking distance, while the neighbourhood is quiet. Plus, the apartment was super clean and really spacious to accommodate 5 or even 6 people.

What could be improved: The sofa bed's mattress is inferior to the apartment's double beds, but this is typical when it comes to sofa beds. Other than that, all was great.

  • Perfect place in Bologna – Margarita from Switzerland – 4 January 2025 (9/10)

The apartment is pefect for visiting Bologna. It is very central, very nice furnished, has big rooms. The beds are comfortable, and the communication is great. Check in was easy, we were greated by Lorenzo right on time when we arrived.
The windows are thin and you can hear everything happening outside. This is normal in Italy, so it wasnt a problem for us.
    We would stay here again!

What could be improved: The kitchen could have more supplies, like bowls, small pot and cooking utensils.
It was cold inside. The room temp. was between 19-21°C.only the owners had access to the thermostat and we asked to set it warmer. They answered quickly and very polite, but were only willing to set it to 21°C max. It wasnt a big issue though, we just wore a thicker sweater inside.

  • great stay at the heart of Bologna! – Agnieszka from Poland – 13 November 2024 (9/10)

Great location, close to Piazza Maggiore. The landlady was helpful and spoke English very well, she allowed us to leave the luggage at their office for free which enabled us to sightsee on the last day without problems. The apartment itself was more spacious than it looked on the pictures, very comfy and hot water without the limitations of a heater!

What could be improved: The only drawback is indeed a lot of noise from the street side. I still could sleep well as I was so tired after the whole day of walking 🙂 but my husband had troubles falling asleep. We recommend earplugs.

  • Clean and spacious – Jacqueline from United States – 9 July 2024 (8/10)

The apartment was clean and spacious. Check process was good. The welcoming host was friendly and very helpful.

What could be improved: The entrance stairway to the apartment was dirty and dusty. Request for extra towel sets was not granted for a four night stay.

  • Good – Amanda from Australia – 18 May 2024 (7/10)

    Location

What could be improved: Bin key didn’t work

  • Very good – Christiana from Australia – 13 May 2024 (8/10)

The property was fabulous. Unfortunately the building is undergoing building works but the actual apartment was lovely.

  • Recommended. – Agnieszka from Netherlands – 29 April 2024 (9/10)

Perfect location, apartment with history. I love the style of windows. Everything what do you need for few days, is there.

What could be improved: You can hear a voices from the street in the morning.

  • A wonderful, spacious apartment that helps you to feel like a local in the city! – Elizabeth from United States – 13 April 2024 (9/10)

The location can't be beat. Just outside of the center by one block, quiet and spacious.

What could be improved: No washer/dryer but they didn't advertise that there was one.

  • Very enjoyable, but could have, should have been a little better. – Silas from United States – 26 October 2023 (8/10)

Physically, the place was wonderful. The two bedrooms had comfy beds and there were two huge bathrooms. Spacious and comfortable!!

What could be improved: The most disappointing thing was the lack of pots, utensils, and a microwave in the kitchen. We could not cook in the apartment since there were only 2 medium-sized pots and 3 frying pans. We did not have a large pot to cook pasta nor soup in. There were 5 of us. In addition, there was only one chopping knife (which was a little dull) and a serrated knife for bread. We made fried eggs one morning, but had no spatula!! Also, we had to call two times for detergents (washing machine and dishwasher). They provide it, which is good, but leave very little (I guess to avoid people stealing it). But we were there for an entire week and there were 5 of us, so the cleaner should have provided us enough for our stay.

Sleeping on the sofa bed in the living room is possible, but not totally comfortable. The sofa makes a large bed, which is good, but part of it is very hard (the back of the sofa) and part is very soft with springs that make noise and hurt (the seats of the sofa). The half bath next to the living room is nice, but there is no place to put even a small soap next to the sink. A small table next to the sink is needed.

The location of the apartment is excellent – right below Piazza Maggiore. And, it is quiet, since it doesn't face the busy street! I do recommend this place for a small group, but I wish the company would provide a little more in terms of being able to use the kitchen better. Microwave?? A bigger coffee maker?? A large pot for pasta or soup?? More utensils?? None of this is expensive and it seems like an oversight.

  • Very good – Marin from Bulgaria – 24 April 2023 (8/10)

Location, spacious rooms with high ceilings, location, comfortable beds, location.

What could be improved: Windows could not close properly and you can hear everything outside. It was very loud when you are trying to sleep. Air conditioning units were very dirty and thus very loud and struggled to keep the temperature.
