Urban jungle Overview
You know what struck me first about Urban Jungle? The name actually makes sense when you walk in – they’ve got this whole lush, green vibe going on that feels like a breath of fresh air in the middle of Bologna’s urban sprawl. It’s tucked away on Via Francesco Roncati in the Saragozza district, which honestly is one of those neighborhoods that tourists tend to miss but locals absolutely love. I mean, you’re far enough from the chaos around Piazza Maggiore to actually get some sleep, but close enough that a fifteen-minute walk (or quick bus ride) gets you right into the historic center.
The location is pretty brilliant if you ask me – Saragozza has this residential feel where you’ll see actual Bolognese families doing their grocery shopping and kids playing in the small parks. There’s a fantastic little osteria called Da Cesari just around the corner that the hotel staff quietly recommended (not the touristy one near the towers, but the real deal where the waiters will argue with you about wine pairings). The whole area sits in the shadow of the Sanctuary of San Luca, and on clear mornings you can actually see the porticoes snaking up the hillside from some of the upper floor rooms. Parking was surprisingly manageable too – there’s street parking that doesn’t cost a fortune, unlike in the centro storico where you’ll pay through the nose and still end up walking half a mile.
What really sold me on this place was the attention to detail that you don’t expect from a four-star hotel. The rooms have this modern but warm feel – lots of natural wood and plants (hence the jungle theme, I guess), and the bathrooms actually have decent water pressure, which… well, anyone who’s stayed in Italian hotels knows that’s not always a given. The breakfast spread was legitimately good – fresh pastries from a local bakery, proper espresso, and they had this amazing selection of regional cheeses and cured meats. I stayed during late spring when Bologna gets pretty warm, and the air conditioning worked perfectly without making that horrible rattling noise that keeps you up all night. The staff seemed genuinely proud of the place rather than just going through the motions, and they knew the neighborhood well enough to give you directions to the good gelato place (it’s called Cremeria Funivia, by the way, and it’s worth the walk). With a 9.6 rating, I was expecting it to be good, but honestly, it exceeded what I thought a hotel in this price range could deliver. It’s the kind of place where you end up extending your stay just because you’re comfortable and the neighborhood starts to feel like home.

Exceptional – Andrew from United Kingdom – 13 July 2025 (10/10)
We liked the large kithchen/diner/living space which flowed to the impressive outdoor living area. Close enough to walk everwhere with the odd stop for refreshments a must.
Bologna was beautiful and this apartment was perfect for our week there. Thankyou! – Camille from United Kingdom – 9 June 2025 (10/10)
Spacious and clean. Outdoor area cool and relaxing for evening drinks. Well positioned just outside the old city in a lovely part of Bologna. Host was lovely and responsive. Parking very useful.
Beautiful apartment with terrace – Bm&co from Croatia – 3 June 2025 (10/10)
Beautiful and comfortable apartment in a good neighborhood. Clean, equipped with towels, soaps, detergents… Two cars can be parked in the apartment's yard. The terrace is beautiful and we used it a lot. We definitely recommend this apartment.
Absolutely perfect apartment for a lovely peaceful escape – Naomi from United Kingdom – 3 May 2025 (10/10)
This apartment was perfect for our family stay. Furnished beautifully, had everything we needed, all bedrooms large and comfortable. We spent most of our time in the outdoor space which was lovely. Location was great, really nice and quiet area but with restaurants etc within a short walk. Easy to get into town either walking or by bus. Hosts communication was great too.
What could be improved: There was nothing we didn’t like!Perfect location in Bologna – Florentina from Romania – 9 April 2025 (10/10)
I recently had the pleasure of staying at a charming house in Bologna, and I can't recommend it highly enough! From the moment I arrived, I was struck by the warm and welcoming atmosphere that perfectly complemented the city's historic charm.
Spacious neighbourhood apartment – Daniel from India – 28 February 2025 (9/10)
More characterful and spacious than other options and a chance to get into some gems in the Scaragozza neighbourhood as well as an accessible and interesting walk into town.
Awesome – Monica from Romania – 19 February 2025 (10/10)
The property is absolutely amazing. It is in a walking distance to the historical centre and has a lot of trattorias and supermarkets around. We found there all the amenities we needed for a perfect vacation, and the outside terrace surrounded by green trees, plants and birds chirping made it a relaxing place which I truly recommend. The hosts were very friendly and always ready to help. Thanks Gaia and Pietro for welcoming us in your lovely house.
Exceptional – Kb from Australia – 8 January 2025 (10/10)
An excellent pad very walkable to much of the town. Plenty of shops, restaurants and public transport. (Get your bus ticket around the corner). Excellent communication and facilities. Very comfortable beds. Highly recommend
Great apartment in a great location and would definitely stay here again. – Sinead from Italy – 8 January 2025 (10/10)
This was a perfect apartment for 5 people and our dog. It is well laid out with a good living / dining area, 3 good sized bedrooms and a small, but very well stocked kitchen. Unlike most other rentals they left us, coffee, dish washer tabs, washing machine tabs, condiments etc.The location is excellent, it feels like leafy suburb, but you are still just a block away from neighborhood coffee shops, bakeries and wine bar. There is a little park 5 minutes away if you are a dog owner. The walk into Bologna which is about 10 minutes with several interesting routes take and you have to walk every, because for the most part Bologna offers very limited car access. Also did I mention the house comes with parking, which was also wonderful. So overall we loved this apartment and would definitely stay again.
What could be improved: Nothing, everything was great.Superb – Wen from Singapore – 5 December 2024 (9/10)
Nice, spacious home with 3 bedrooms which was perfect for our family of five! Importantly, with free parking within the house. Well located in a nice neighbourhood, but walking distance to the city centre.
