You know what caught me off guard about UR NEST San Gervasio? The location is absolutely perfect, but not in that touristy way everyone expects. I mean, Via San Gervasio is this quiet residential street that feels like actual Bologna – you’ll hear locals chatting from their balconies in the morning, and there’s this incredible smell of fresh bread from the little bakery just around the corner. It’s maybe a 12-minute walk to Piazza Maggiore, but honestly, I found myself loving this neighborhood more than the main tourist areas.

The hotel itself has this modern, minimalist vibe that somehow doesn’t feel cold or sterile. The rooms are genuinely well-thought-out – like, whoever designed them actually travels and knows what you need. Good lighting for reading (finally!), proper outlets near the bed, and the bathroom products don’t smell like generic hotel soap. The staff was incredibly helpful when I needed directions to that amazing tortellini place on Via del Pratello, and they actually knew which bus to take to get there quickly. Check-in was smooth, no weird deposit holds or confusing key card systems.

Here’s the thing about staying in this part of Bologna – you’re close enough to walk everywhere important, but far enough from Via dell’Indipendenza that you won’t hear drunk university students at 2 AM. The area gets lively during aperitivo time (around 7 PM), but it’s the good kind of lively where you want to grab a Spritz and people-watch from one of the nearby cafes. I actually discovered some of my favorite spots just by wandering the neighborhood in the evenings. There’s decent parking nearby if you’re driving, though honestly, you won’t need a car once you’re settled in. The whole historic center is walkable, and the train station is close enough that day trips to Florence or Venice are totally doable. What really impressed me was how the hotel manages to feel both boutique and practical – it’s stylish without being pretentious, and the 9-star rating makes total sense when you experience the attention to detail firsthand.

  Location was perfect. Easily accessible — in the center and near the train station. There are restaurants, a market, farmacia, gelateria, right in front/across the building.
  The space is good for 4 people. It has one main bedroom and a sofa bed in the living room. The place was so cute too!
  There is an elevator available.
  Host & staff were accommodating as well.

  The appartment in the very very center. Thus the place is perfect! Of course, it is a bit noisy but we could close windows and use conditioners.
  The flat is cosy, has everything what is needed.
  The owner is great!!! Very communicable, helped a lot!!!

  What could be improved: As my daughter is alergic to goose bedding do I propose to have an alternative or even change goose down to normal syntetic bedding cause quite many people has alergy to dust mites.
