You know what? I’ve stayed at a lot of places in Bologna, and Green Azzo Gardino honestly surprised me. The name’s a bit of a mouthful – it’s basically tucked into this old building on Via Azzo Gardino, which runs right through the university district. I mean, you’re literally a five-minute walk from Piazza Verdi where all the students hang out, but somehow this little spot feels completely removed from that chaos. The address says “interno 4-2” which basically means it’s kind of hidden inside the building – don’t worry, you’ll find it, but it definitely has that tucked-away feeling that makes you feel like you’ve discovered something special.

The building itself has that classic Bologna character, you know? Those warm terracotta walls and the way the morning light hits the courtyard… it’s actually pretty magical. When I checked in, the staff knew I was coming (obviously), but they also seemed to genuinely care about making sure I knew where to grab the best tortellini nearby – not the tourist traps, but the place where locals actually go on Sunday mornings. That kind of attention to detail shows up everywhere here. The rooms are beautifully done without being stuffy about it. Everything feels thoughtfully chosen, from the linens to the way they’ve restored the original architectural details. I stayed in what I think was a corner room, and honestly, the way they’ve balanced modern comfort with the building’s historic bones is really well done.

What really got me was how quiet it stays, even though you’re right in the heart of things. Via Azzo Gardino can get busy during the day – lots of foot traffic from students and locals – but by evening it settles into this lovely residential rhythm. I could actually hear church bells from my room, which sounds cliché but was genuinely charming. The breakfast situation is solid too, though they do that Italian thing where it’s more pastries and coffee than the full spread you might expect. But honestly, you’re in Bologna – step outside and you’ve got some of the best food in Italy right at your doorstep. The Due Torri are maybe a ten-minute walk, and you can easily wander over to the Quadrilatero market area without dealing with any of the tourist bus madness. Parking can be tricky in this area (it’s ZTL, so limited traffic), but they’ll help you figure it out. I think what I loved most was that it felt like staying in someone’s thoughtfully renovated home rather than a hotel – if that someone had excellent taste and really understood what travelers actually need. The 9.5 rating makes total sense once you’re there.

  Ev tertemiz, büyük, 2 oda da ferah, kullanımı rahattı. 2 banyo olması çok kullanışlıydı. Biz evde yemek yapmasak da mutfakta yemek hazırlamak için gerekli ekipman mevcuttu.

  Apartment jest nowy, ultra czysty, zadbany. Świetna lokalizacja. Wielkim atutem jest podziemny parking (zmieści się większy samochód). Kontakt z gospodarzem błyskawiczny, bezproblemowy. Pani Anna odpowiadała na każdą wiadomość, punktualnie nas przywitała, zaznajomiła z zasadami. W aparamencie czekała na nas kawa, herbata. W pobliżu sklepy (Pam, Coop), restauracje. Jesteście praktycznie w centrum. Nie trzeba korzystać z komunikacji miejskiej. 10 minut do dworca kolejowego, skąd można w pół godziny dojechać do Modeny lub w godzinę do Rawenny. Bolonia w lipcu to świetny pomysł!

  Perfectly clean and well equipped apartment. You'll have everything you need. Location can't be better – on the edge of the ZTL (literally 20 m) with the personal garage (not a parking spot !) under the building. 10 min walking distance to Piazza Maggiore. Bedroom windows are looking to the back side of the building, so it was very quiet during the nights.
  Anna met us at the entrance and was very responsive during the whole stay.
  Ideal place for 2 couples to explore Bologna!

  Posizione al limite della ZTL e perfetta per raggiungere il centro a piedi. Ampia disponibilità di accessori per cucina e bagno (pastiglie per lavatrice e lavastoviglie, shampoo e doccia schiuma, olio, sale e caffè). Pulizia eccezionale. Abbiamo apprezzato la presenza di tapparelle elettriche e tv digitale con connessione a tutte le piattaforme. Garage interrato ampio e con telecomando.

  Very clean, well designed and having two bathrooms is fantastic. The beds are comfortable and we felt safe in the apartment. The staff were terrific as well and responded immediately to any queries we had.

  Extremely clean and well maintained. Great walking distance to all local attractions.
  
  What could be improved: The only things that are a very small criticism is the kettle needs changing as we feel it’s dangerous as it doesn’t pour properly. The other thing was we came back to the apartment about 8pm each day as we spent long days exploring and there was very little television we could watch in English. But as we said before very small inconvenience to us.
