You know what struck me first about UR-NEST Guerrazzi? The name actually makes sense once you’re inside – it genuinely feels like someone designed this place to be a proper nest in the heart of Bologna. I mean, Via Guerrazzi isn’t one of those tourist-trap streets you’d stumble onto by accident, but that’s exactly why it works so well. You’re basically a five-minute walk from Piazza Maggiore, but tucked away on this quieter residential street where you can actually hear yourself think.

The building itself has that restored historic charm that Bologna does so well – you know, where they’ve kept the character but everything actually functions properly. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward (the staff spoke excellent English, though honestly, their Italian hospitality shines through regardless), and I appreciated that they didn’t try to upsell me on every little thing. The rooms are what I’d call thoughtfully designed rather than flashy – good lighting for actually reading, outlets where you need them, and a bathroom that doesn’t require contortionist skills to use the shower. The beds are properly comfortable, not just Instagram-pretty, and the soundproofing is solid enough that you won’t hear every conversation from the hallway.

What really sets this place apart, though, is how it sits in the neighborhood. Walk left toward Via dell’Indipendenza and you’re in the thick of Bologna’s shopping scene, but head right and you’ll find yourself among the kind of local osterie where the menu changes based on what’s actually good that day. There’s this little bakery around the corner – I won’t spoil the discovery, but grab a cornetto there before they sell out around 10 AM. The hotel’s location means you can walk to the university area without breaking a sweat, and honestly, experiencing Bologna on foot is half the point of being there. Parking can be tricky in this part of the city (like most Italian historic centers), but the hotel staff knows the area well enough to point you toward the best options. The breakfast setup is Continental done right – quality ingredients, local specialties, and strong coffee that’ll properly wake you up. I stayed during shoulder season and never felt crowded, though I imagine summer gets busier with the university crowd and tourists discovering what locals already know about this area.

  What could be improved: Very dated and old. Things falling apart. Insufficient towels for our party. No additional pillow cases (pillows without covers available). PLace was very noisy with lots of road noise and neighbourhood noise. Apartment did not have access to the lift – had to carry bags up the stairs. Person handing keys demanded to be paid in cash 40 Euros for his extra work in coming to hand over keys – we had not exchanged currency as we had a latish flight. Beds were very uncomfortable. Daughter has to sleep in armchair.

  The design and decoration of the space are simply astonishing. The rooms are spacious, luxury and comfort. The cleanliness and overall tidiness of the apartment were great, ensuring a truly pleasant stay.
  The host's warm and friendly nature added to the overall positive experience. He went above and beyond to ensure our satisfaction and took great care in making us feel welcomed and at ease throughout our stay.
  Location is great, there are a lot of restaurants, bars, shops nearby.
  I would recommend this place to fellow travelers seeking an exceptional accommodation.
  
  Just a headsup that you need to pay a deposit of 300 euro upon your arrival which will returned to you in 3 weeks if you leave the apartment in a good state,
  
  What could be improved: There were no coffee capsules in the apartment although there is a nespresso machine. We arrived late and groceries were closed already. I would probably recommend to take some upfront if you are coffeeholic.
  When I asked the host, he proposed to bring me some in the next morning but i did not want to bother him.

  What could be improved: It will be nice to have in the flat the trash cans/containers for trash separation.It was 3 bags for different trash given and it all simply laid on the floor in the kitchen, as there was no place for it and you can not throw it out daily due to the city regulation.
