But stepping into that gorgeous galleria entrance actually made me do a double-take. The building sits right in this elegant covered arcade that most tourists rush through without really noticing, but if you’re staying here, you get to appreciate how the morning light filters through those old glass panels above.

The apartments themselves are way more spacious than what you’d typically find in Bologna’s historic center – I mean, we’re talking about a medieval city where most places feel like they were designed for much shorter people from centuries ago. The 4-star rating feels spot-on; everything’s well-maintained and thoughtfully set up, though don’t expect ultra-modern fixtures everywhere. What I really loved was how quiet it gets at night, which honestly surprised me given that you’re literally steps from Via Ugo Bassi, one of the main shopping streets. The galleria acts like this buffer zone that keeps the street noise out while still letting you pop out for morning coffee or late-night gelato in about thirty seconds.

You know what really sold me on this place? The location is just… perfect for actually living like a local for a few days. Forget about those hotels near the train station where you feel disconnected from everything – here you can walk to Piazza Maggiore in maybe five minutes, but you’re also surrounded by the kind of neighborhood spots that Bolognesi actually frequent. There’s this fantastic little osteria tucked away on Via Goito (literally around the corner) that I never would have found if I’d been staying somewhere more touristy. And honestly, having a proper kitchenette means you can hit the morning markets near Quadrilatero and actually do something with all those amazing local ingredients instead of just taking Instagram photos of them. The 8.7 rating makes total sense once you factor in that you’re getting apartment-style space and freedom in a prime centro storico location – it’s not trying to be a luxury hotel, but it delivers exactly what it promises. Just keep in mind that like most historic buildings in Bologna, there’s no elevator, so if you’re hauling heavy luggage, request a lower floor when you book.

  It’s clean, spacious, the kitchen and dining area are well prepared for cooking and eating. The location is perfect with the grocery store immediately outside the building and just a minute walk the other way is the Mercato delle Erbe for fresh fruits and vegetables. A 10 minute walk away is Neptune’s Fountain and the train station is a safe casual 15 minute walk.

  The location was fantastic. About a 15-20 min walk from train station but well worth the walk. The apartment was on a main road but quiet at night. Within walking distance of everything. Would definitely recommend it’s the place to stay.
