The morning sounds from the piazza below are surprisingly soothing; there’s this gentle hum of daily life starting up that feels authentically Italian without being overwhelming. And here’s something practical nobody mentions – parking is actually manageable here because you’re just outside the most restricted zone, but still close enough to walk everywhere that matters. The rooms themselves have this beautiful balance of historical character and modern comfort. I’m talking thick walls that actually keep things quiet, bathrooms that work properly (you’d be surprised how rare that is in some historic Italian hotels), and these gorgeous high ceilings that make even the smaller suites feel spacious.

What really sold me on this place, though, was how it sits right in the heart of Bologna’s legal district – hence the name – but that doesn’t mean it’s all business hotels and boring lunch spots. The evening crowd around here is fantastic, lots of locals heading home from work, stopping at the wine bars tucked into these ancient streets. You’re a five-minute walk from the main university area, so there’s this great energy, but it’s not chaotic like some student neighborhoods can be. The 9.3 rating makes total sense once you’ve stayed here – it’s not trying to be flashy or over-the-top luxury, it’s just really, really good at what it does. The breakfast is worth getting up for (actual good coffee, not hotel coffee), and the concierge gave me restaurant recommendations that were spot-on. If you’re the type who wants to feel like you’re staying somewhere with real character, where you can walk out the door and immediately be part of the city’s rhythm rather than observing it from a distance, this is your place.

  Wonderful loft apartment 700 metres from the Piazza Maggiore, located in a lovely area of the City. The accommodation has everything you need, is spotlessly clean, and the bed is very comfortable. Valeria is an excellent host and very helpful. We would definitely stay here again.
