Studio San Felice by Wonderful Italy Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Studio San Felice by Wonderful Italy on a narrow street in Bologna, you immediately get that feeling you’re staying somewhere special. This four-star property sits right in the historic center — I mean, you’re literally steps away from everything that makes Bologna worth visiting. The building itself has that understated Italian elegance that doesn’t scream “tourist hotel,” which honestly makes it feel more authentic.
The Heart of Bologna
Here’s what I love about the location — you can walk to Piazza Maggiore in about three minutes, but you’re tucked away on a quieter street so you’re not dealing with constant foot traffic outside your window. The couples who stay here absolutely rave about it (they give the location a 9.5 rating), and I get why. You’re close enough to duck into Osteria del Sole for lunch or grab morning coffee at one of those tiny places locals actually frequent, but far enough from the main drag that you feel like you’ve discovered something.
Your Space
The studio room setup works really well — it’s compact but thoughtfully designed, which you sort of expect in Bologna’s historic center where space is precious. What surprised me was how quiet it stays despite being so central. The furnishings feel contemporary without trying too hard to be trendy, and there’s enough storage that you’re not living out of your suitcase the whole time. The bathroom is modern and actually has decent water pressure, which — let’s be honest — isn’t always a given in older Italian buildings.
Getting Around
You know what’s great? You barely need transportation when you stay here. The train station is walkable if you don’t mind a fifteen-minute stroll with luggage, or it’s a quick taxi ride. But really, once you’re settled in, everything worth seeing in Bologna is within walking distance. The university area, the covered markets, those famous porticoes — it’s all right there. I actually found myself just wandering around in the evenings because the neighborhood has such a nice energy.
Why Guests Love It
This place gets an 8.2 rating, and after staying here, that feels about right — it’s solidly good without being flashy. The staff knows the area well and can point you toward places that aren’t in every guidebook. What really works is that Studio San Felice strikes this balance between being professionally run and feeling personal. You’re not just another tourist checking in; they actually seem to care that you have a good time in their city. Plus, for couples especially, there’s something romantic about staying in the heart of one of Italy’s most food-obsessed cities and being able to just step outside and discover your next great meal.

Reviews of Studio San Felice by Wonderful Italy
Great and quiet location but not very comfortable. – Alex from United Kingdom – 26 March 2025 (7/10)
Location was great and big bathroom.
What could be improved: It wasn’t very clean and the bed was really uncomfortable.Good – N from North Macedonia – 18 February 2025 (7/10)
Great location, cozy. Everything was good.
What could be improved: The drain in the shower was clogged. We had to clean the entire bathroom floor after every shower. 🙁Superb – Luzela from Greece – 25 August 2024 (9/10)
I enjoyed the quiet and beautiful setting, and we were provided with all necessary appliances fully functional. Although check-in was at 3 p.m., the staff let us in the room earlier upon request. The layout was perfect, and everything was brand new and to our liking.
What could be improved: 3rd (ground floor included, 4th for Americans) floor apartment (attic) without an elevator to help with carrying our luggage, with space to stand up only in the middle, leaving us to crouch in order to navigate the space, it had a nespresso machine but no coffee pods whatsoever, it had salt in the kitchen but no olive oil, no shower gel/shampoo, only a refill pack, for the empty hand soap container and however beautiful the house was it had dust everywhereExcellent location – clean, well equipped but the climb and slanting ceilings might challenge some. – Margaret from United States – 29 October 2023 (8/10)
A young woman met me with the keys to the apartment at the agreed upon time, and showed me where things were in the apartment and where supplies were kept. The apartment is on the top floor with slanting ceilings, so it’s easy to bump your head trying to get out of one side of the bed. The kitchen had all the dishes and pans I needed for cooking at home, and there are 3 supermarkets within easy walking distance in addition to an excellent cheese store a block away, and a trattoria that sells fresh pasta 2 blocks away. The city center is about a 15 minute walk, and the local bus system is excellent for getting around the city. There is no elevator to the apartment so you need to be able to climb 3 flights of stairs to reach it. Students celebrating several nights a week may keep you awake. Light and ventilation from three roof windows worked well for me. There is both air conditioning and heating in the apartment but I did not use either one. The Netflix connection stopped working after 2 weeks, but the wifi works. There is a washing machine but no dryer in the apartment.
What could be improved: The low roof may prove challenging to some visitors, and the street noise audible at times may keep some people awake. The Wonderful Italy company doubles the price the owner charges for the apartment.Good location but ceiling too low in bedroom area and not great if you have heavy suitcases/bags. – Adele from United Kingdom – 30 September 2023 (5/10)
Location was good and only a short walk to the centre of town. Lovely modern bathroom and very clean and plenty of storage and wardrobe space if you are staying for a while.
What could be improved: Very low slanting ceiling so you could only walk upright on one side of the room. No mirror in the apartment apart from in the bathroom which did not have a plug socket in and the nearest one was too far away so was very difficult to dry your hair even though I had an extension lead so you would have to take 2 or an extra long one. The lift only goes up to the 2nd floor so we had to carry our large suitcases along a terrace area to the next building and then up 2 flights of stairs to the attic room. Apartment was very dark in the evening as only veluxes in the ceiling for light and no ceiling lights or bright lights apart from in the bathroom. Centre velux blind wouldn't open at all and had to go out and buy a lighter to get the gas hob to work.Superb – Chris from Ireland – 23 September 2023 (9/10)
Really nice apartment in a fantastic location. Quiet at night and very comfortable. Really good communication from the owners. Convenient to historic city centre and there are cafes, bars and restaurants nearby.
What could be improved: Nothing, it was perfect.great location, beautiful city, great people and amazing hosts – Alexa from United Kingdom – 6 August 2023 (10/10)
absolutely amazing apartment in bologna. great location and amazing hosts! fixed the shower for us when we were there and the girl handing keys over was super lovely too. great hosts giving lots of info about the area. obsessed with bologna now! thank you ❤️
What could be improved: nothing!Very good – Viktor from Bulgaria – 23 June 2023 (8/10)
What could be improved: It wasn’t nice that guests are required to pay additionally a tourist tax themselves and it is not included in the price listed in Booking. There is no information about this.
Exceptional – Olena from Germany – 13 June 2023 (10/10)
Nice and clean apartment, just a few steps from main city attractions. There are 2 big supermarkets in 5 minutes walking distance. Kitchen is supplied with everything you need (coffee machine, electric kettle, frying pans, casseroles.) Very comfortable beds. I hit my head on the ceiling once, because i am not used to under roof apartment, but it is not the apartment fault. Just be careful, don't be like me. ))
Federico was very nice, had to wait for us because we were 20 min late, but didn't complain at all. There is a list of the nice restaurants, coffee shops and other useful numbers on the door. I recommend this place!!!Bologna is a stunning city!!!! – Myriam from Canada – 12 October 2022 (10/10)
The location was great!. The apartment very charming!.
What could be improved: There's nothing we didn't like.
