Look, I’ve stayed in plenty of Bologna apartments over the years, and honestly? The Canaletto on Via Augusto Righi kind of surprised me. You know that area just north of the university district – it’s got this perfect sweet spot vibe where you’re close enough to everything but not drowning in student chaos. When I first walked up to number 7, I was expecting another generic rental, but there’s something about this place that actually feels thoughtful.

The apartment itself has this lived-in elegance that’s hard to fake. I mean, sure, it’s got all the stuff you need – proper kitchen, decent Wi-Fi, comfortable beds – but what got me was the attention to details that most places just skip. The windows are actually soundproofed well enough that you won’t hear every Vespa puttering down Righi at 6 AM (trust me on this one). And the building has this classic Bologna feel without being stuffy about it. The whole setup reminded me why I love staying in apartments here instead of hotels – you get to live like a local, but with someone who actually cares about your experience handling the logistics.

What really sold me was the location, though I didn’t fully appreciate it until my second day. You’re a solid 15-minute walk to Piazza Maggiore, which sounds far but honestly it’s perfect – you can wander through some of Bologna’s best residential streets instead of fighting tourist crowds. There’s this little alimentari just around the corner where the owner, Signora something-or-other, will set you up with proper mortadella and tortellini if you ask nicely. And here’s the thing nobody tells you about Via Righi – it connects to these gorgeous porticoed streets that lead straight toward San Domenico, so your morning coffee runs turn into these accidentally beautiful walks. The whole area feels authentically Bolognese, if that makes sense. Not trying too hard, just… right.

Parking’s actually manageable here too, which anyone who’s driven in Bologna will tell you is basically a miracle. The 8.8 rating makes total sense to me – it’s the kind of place that doesn’t promise the world but delivers on everything that actually matters when you’re trying to experience a city properly.

  Great central location (about a 15 minute walk to train station, close to shopping and many restaurants too!). People of Bologna are friendly!! Very large apartment with three ac, well appointed kitchen (we didn't cook), two full bathrooms and very comfortable beds (even the fold out couch was good!). There is a small elevator or two flights of steps for those with access concerns. Couch bed and full bath on first level of apartment.
  
  What could be improved: Had trouble figuring out how to use the ac in the large bedroom (twist to set, non-traditional remote) — customer service was fantastic and provided assistance quickly.

  What could be improved: The air conditioners are louder than usual. Cannot operate while sleeping as it is loud. This make the rooms hot when sleeping at night.

  Very nice and cozy apartment situated right in the heart of the city, very close to the train station, restaurants and shops and with great views right on Little Venice.
  The apartment was very well equipped with everything we needed.
  Check-in and Check out procedure was really simple, we were in contact with the host at all times and they answered really fast.

  Canaletto was in a perfect location for exploring Bologna. 10 minutes walk from the railway station but also only 10 minutes in the opposite direction to Piazza Maggiore and Due Torri. Contactless access to the property was easy and well explained with lots of information and supporting photos from the company who manage the property.
  
  What could be improved: Nothing major, but the upstairs bathroom had a bit of a smell at times. It wasn’t too bad though.
  The apartment is on the second floor but that wouldn’t be a problem for anyone with access issues as there’s a modern elevator.

  Great location not far from centre of Bologna, apartment was very comfortable with everything you needed. Having the rooms upstairs was a nice finish. Everything was comfortable and very nice, and host was amazing and very accomodating to every request. You are literally 20 minute walk from termini and 5-10 minute walk to main parts of Bologna but have some amazing restaurants literally around the corner.
