Studio Grabinski Overview

You know what struck me first about Studio Grabinski? It’s tucked away on this quiet little street that most tourists never find, but you’re literally a five-minute walk from Piazza Maggiore. I mean, you step out the door and you’re in proper Bologna – not some touristy bubble, but the real deal where locals actually live and work. The building itself has that understated elegance that Italians do so well, sort of refined without being stuffy. When I walked in, the lobby had this warm, lived-in feeling – like staying at your sophisticated Italian uncle’s place, if you had one.

The studio setup is honestly perfect for how people actually travel these days. Everything’s been thought through without feeling overly designed – good lighting for working (because let’s be real, sometimes you need to answer emails), a kitchen area that’s actually functional if you want to grab some ingredients from the Mercato delle Erbe nearby, and the bed situation is comfortable without taking up the whole space. What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays at night. Bologna can get pretty lively, especially around the university area, but Via Grabinski is one of those streets where you hear the city humming in the distance rather than partying right outside your window. The air conditioning actually works properly too, which – trust me – matters a lot during those muggy summer months when Bologna turns into a bit of a sauna.

Here’s the thing about this place though – it’s the small details that make it work. The shower has proper pressure (seriously, why is this so rare?), there’s enough storage space that you can actually unpack if you’re staying more than a night, and the WiFi doesn’t cut out every time someone in the building uses their microwave. The staff really knows the neighborhood – they’ll point you toward the good aperitivo spots on Via del Pratello or tell you which days the markets are worth hitting. Bologna’s not a huge city, but it’s easy to waste time wandering around aimlessly, and these guys actually help you make the most of being here. Plus, that 9.3 rating isn’t just inflated reviews – I’ve stayed in plenty of 4-star places that felt way more generic than this. It’s got that sweet spot thing going where you feel like you’re experiencing Bologna rather than just sleeping somewhere in Bologna, if that makes sense.

Reviews of Studio Grabinski

  • A convenient and comfortable studio apartment close to the centre of Bologna. – Linton from Australia – 12 June 2025 (9/10)

Grabinski is a fully equipped apartment in a secure building. It had a large walk in shower with plenty of water pressure, a very comfortable bed and fully equipped, except for a dish washer which for two people is not needed. It has a washing machine and air conditioning. A 10 minute walk to the station, the same time to the centre of the old town, a great location. An excellent super market is very close by. Plenty of bars and restaurants within easy walking distance. Alessandra was a wonderful, caring host.

What could be improved: It could get noisy at night when the rubbish bins in the lane below us were emptied, something the property has no control over.

  • Exceptional – Claire from United States – 5 June 2025 (10/10)

Not to far off the beaten path to everything in Bologna . Offering an apartment feel w/ a washer and a great host! Ale recommendations were stop on for dinner and things to do! We had a great time in Bologna

  • Apart from the mattress it was excellent – Anthony from Australia – 4 June 2025 (9/10)

    The cleanliness and location

What could be improved: The mattress was a bit uneven

  • Great Location – Belinda from Australia – 25 May 2025 (9/10)

Great location, close to train station and shops. Minutes to the main square with loads of cafes, restaurants and bars.

  • Perfection – Maximilian from Germany – 15 May 2025 (10/10)

The apartment is extraordinarily clean, equipped with anything you could ask for. Great attention to detail when it comes to amenities. I particularly liked the coffee machine and the tasteful set of mugs. The mattress was very comfy and bedroom has AC. The location is obviously great as it is close to the center and the train station. The host was super friendly and attentive as well. All in all it was just great!

What could be improved: I didn’t have any complaints

  • Perfect stay in Bologna! – Gisella from Australia – 12 May 2025 (10/10)

A very clean, spacious, comfortable and well located apartment with everything you need at your door, including caffe, restaurants and supermarkets. Walking distance to main train station, bus stop round the corner and main sites also in walking distance. Much to like about this place.

What could be improved: A shelf in the shower cubical for soap and shampoos would have been great.

  • Exceptional – Teodora from Serbia – 5 May 2025 (10/10)

Apartment has everything you could need for a perfect stay! It was clean, location is excellent, it takes around 10 minutes walk to main city square. Host was really friendly abd helpful!

  • Superb – Raminta from Lithuania – 20 April 2025 (9/10)

The apartment is cosy, warm and clean, all facilities for a longer stay are available. Piazza Maggiore is about 10-15 min walk, so the city vibes and shopping areas are easily reachable. Grocery shops and bus stops are less than 5 min walk. The museum of modern art is almost at hand distance. Alessandra is a very attentive and considerate hostess, we appreciated the possibility of later check-out.

What could be improved: It was not the first time I stayed in Bologna, and usually collection of garbage from the streets and cleaning (3-5 am) is very noisy. So this has to be kept in mind everywhere when opening windows for the night. But this is not the fault of the apartment 🙂

  • Modern, well-equipped and comfortable one-bedroom apartment in a convenient location – Geneviève from Netherlands – 4 April 2025 (10/10)

Everything was according to the description and pictures on booking.com. Very modern apartment, the furniture and equipment seemed new, bed was comfortable. Quiet location, except for the daily garbage truck passing under our bedroom window around midnight, we didn't hear noise from the street or from the other apartments. Kitchen was fully equipped and functional. Nice hot shower. Conveniently located 15 minutes walk from the station and 10 minutes walk from Piazza Maggiore. There were also many restaurants and cafés just a few meters away.

What could be improved: We find it a little bit warm in the apartment due to the heating, but we understand that the heating system was centralised for the whole building and could not be controlled from our apartment, so there is nothing the owner could do about it.

  • 10/10 – Ieva from Lithuania – 31 March 2025 (10/10)

Excellent apartments with everything you need for your stay. Clean and well-thought-out for a comfortable long-term stay. Great location! 10/10
