So I stumbled across UR NEST Testoni last spring when I was desperately searching for somewhere decent to stay in Bologna that wasn’t either a tourist trap or completely booked out. Honestly? Best accidental discovery I’ve made in years. The place sits on Via Alfredo Testoni, which sounds fancy but is actually this perfectly quiet residential street in Saragozza – you know, that area just south of the historic center where actual Bolognese people live and work.

What struck me first was how the staff actually seemed to care about the neighborhood they’re in. The guy at reception (I think his name was Marco?) didn’t just give me the usual tourist map with all the obvious spots circled. Instead, he walked me through the real Bologna – told me about the little osteria around the corner on Via del Pratello where locals grab aperitivo, mentioned that the Saturday market on Piazza VIII Agosto is way better than the touristy one everyone hits. You’re literally a 10-minute walk from Piazza Maggiore, but here’s the thing – you can actually sleep at night because you’re just far enough from the university crowd chaos. The rooms have this warm, lived-in feel that’s becoming impossible to find these days. I mean, it’s clearly a 4-star place (the linens are gorgeous, bathroom’s spotless, everything works like it should), but someone put real thought into making it feel like a home rather than a hotel room assembly line. The beds are honestly some of the most comfortable I’ve encountered in Italy – and I’ve stayed in my fair share of places from Rome to Milan.

Parking was surprisingly painless, which anyone who’s driven in Bologna will tell you is basically a miracle. There’s a garage situation they’ve worked out that doesn’t involve you circling the block seventeen times or paying your firstborn child in fees. The breakfast setup is solid too – proper espresso (obviously), fresh cornetti, and they actually have decent options if you’re not into the typical Italian sweet breakfast thing. You know what really sold me though? It was about 7 PM on my second day, and I was sitting in the little common area they have, just planning my evening. This older couple from the neighborhood stopped by – turns out they’re friends with the owner – and we ended up chatting for an hour about the best places to find proper tortellini in brodo. That’s when I realized this place isn’t just a hotel, it’s actually part of the community. The rating of 9 out of 10 makes total sense when you experience it – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in town, but it nails everything that actually matters when you’re traveling.

  Muy buena ubicación en el centro de Bologna. El piso está totalmente renovado y una cocina completa, con lavadora etc. Salón amplio y cómodo con una buena selección de música junto con otras curiosidades. Los que gestionan la propiedad fueron muy amables y detallistas. Estuvieron atentos en todo momento para facilitarnos el check-in.

  Posto centrale, a circa 10 minuti da Piazza Maggiore. Quartiere tranquillo e sicuro. La casa è comoda, con una decorazione gradevole e discreta e con molte storie da raccontare.

  The apartment is in a great location and has a large, spacious, main bedroom and lounge/ diner. The apartment is very clean, modern and equipped with everything that you need for a comfortable stay. Shops, restaurants, coffee shops, bars, supermarkets and historical sights all within very short walking distance.
  
  What could be improved: Two single beds in the second bedroom, would be more helpful for families with two children.
  The electricity tripped off a few times during our stay. It seems that you can't run the dishwasher, washing machine and kettle, all at the same time.
