Stayinbologna Overview
Look, I’ve stayed at my fair share of places in Bologna, and Stayinbologna actually surprised me in the best way possible. The name’s a bit cheeky – I mean, they’re not even trying to be subtle about it – but honestly, that playful vibe carries through the whole experience. It’s tucked away on Via del Milliario, which is one of those streets you’d never stumble upon unless you knew where you were going. That’s actually perfect because you’re close enough to everything that matters but far enough from the tourist chaos around Piazza Maggiore.
The location is genuinely smart if you know Bologna at all. You’re maybe a 15-minute walk to the university area, which means you get that authentic student-city energy without the late-night noise (well, mostly). I found myself grabbing morning coffee at this little place around the corner where the barista remembered my order by day three – that’s the kind of neighborhood this is. The rooms themselves have this modern-meets-traditional thing going on that could’ve been cheesy but somehow works. The beds are properly comfortable, not just hotel-decent, and the bathrooms are actually spacious enough to unpack your toiletries without playing Tetris. You know what I really appreciated? The air conditioning that doesn’t sound like a small aircraft taking off, and the WiFi that actually works when you need to upload photos or catch up on work.
What really sets this place apart is how it feels like the owners understand what travelers actually want. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward – no upselling, no complicated explanations about amenities I’d never use. The staff seems to genuinely know the city, not just the tourist highlights. When I asked about where to find the best tortellini (because obviously), they didn’t just point me toward some overpriced place near the towers. They sent me to this family-run spot that locals actually frequent, where I had one of those meals you’re still thinking about weeks later. The 8.4 rating makes sense to me – it’s not trying to be a luxury palace, but it nails what a good 4-star should do. There were tiny things that showed attention to detail, like having enough outlets near the bed and providing an actual decent map of the city with handwritten notes about market days and opening hours. I’d definitely stay here again, especially if I wanted to experience Bologna like someone who actually lives there rather than just checking famous spots off a list.

Reviews of Stayinbologna
Very good – Haluk from Turkey – 10 June 2025 (8/10)
The house is in a quiet and safe neighborhood. City center, Bologna Centrale and the airport is easy to reach from the premises using public transportation.
Exceptional – Kirova from Bulgaria – 2 April 2025 (10/10)
The room was clean and cozy with a very nice patio. The TV and WiFi were top. The apartment is located in a very nice neighborhood, a bit away from the center with easy access to busses. There are rental bikes everywhere and bike lanes that lead straight to the center. The host was very friendly and helpful.
Would recommend. – Roksana from Poland – 13 July 2024 (9/10)
The apartment is really spacious with a nice patio outside. The bus stop is less than 5 minutes walk. It was clean. The host was incredibly nice and helpful, he gave us some good recommendations of restaurants and places to visit while in Bologna.
What could be improved: Everything was fine.A very nice apartment for a relaxing stay in Bologna. – Damir from Croatia – 19 May 2024 (10/10)
The loft was very clean and had all the facilities we needed. The host was very welcoming and gave us good recommendations on what to visit and how to navigate the city. The location is a bit on the outskirts, but it is very peaceful at night and has a bus station close by with regular buses to the city centre. There are also supermarkets within 10 minute walking distance of the apartment.
Short and sweet trip, would love to come back to explore more! – Suzi from United Kingdom – 21 July 2023 (10/10)

The host was incredible, warm and welcoming!!
Highly recommend this as a place to stay for a very reasonable price!
What could be improved: It is a little far out of the city which we knew when booking and was great for us but if you want to be in the heart of the city then it is an hour or so on foot or 5-10 minute in a taxi.Lovely apartment – Marie from Ireland – 17 May 2023 (9/10)
Lovely apartment, very helpful owner, excellent communication and check-in,/out experience.
What could be improved: We were unlucky with the weather.Exceptional – Karolína from Czech Republic – 1 May 2023 (10/10)

Good – Sarah from Germany – 11 April 2023 (7/10)
Good location, very safe, restaurants close by and street parking was always available
What could be improved: Damp smell in the roomGood – Jędrzej from Poland – 30 December 2022 (7/10)
What could be improved: One thing was weird that we had to pay for the electricity how much we used, first time we’ve heard about this, also about late check out it was the same, okay maybe the owners were living far away from this apartment, but first thing was surprise 🙁
