The 4-star rating isn’t just marketing fluff; they’ve got this attention to detail that you notice immediately. The check-in was refreshingly smooth, no hovering around a crowded lobby, and the staff actually knew the neighborhood well enough to give real recommendations. You know what surprised me? The soundproofing is excellent. I was worried about street noise since Italian cities can be… lively, but even with the windows open on warm evenings, it stays pleasantly quiet. The Wi-Fi actually works (crucial for me), and there’s proper air conditioning, which trust me, you’ll appreciate if you’re visiting during Bologna’s sticky summer months.

What really sold me on this place was how it sits in the sweet spot between authentic Bologna life and tourist convenience. San Donato has this lived-in feel – there’s a fantastic morning market about five minutes away where locals do their shopping, and the cafes around here serve espresso to construction workers and university professors alike, not just travelers. The area connects easily to the university district too, so there’s this nice energy without the chaos of staying right in the Quadrilatero. Parking can be tricky (like everywhere in Bologna), but the hotel staff knows the neighborhood parking situation better than most locals.   The room was very nice and very clean! They made sure to provide food in the room for the day the bakery was closed. They were also very helpful with the check-in process!
  
  What could be improved: The only downside was that the bathroom bin didn’t have a lid, which was an issue both for hygiene and aesthetics.

  The little apartment had everything we needed and more. It's a bit far from the city centre, but there are several bus stops 100m away. Francesca is super nice and responsive.
  
  What could be improved: There is a huge construction site literally just outside the door, so it can be quite noisy at times. They respect the quiet hours, but apparently they only last until 7am. However, the host has done her best to mitigate this: the windows and shutters are good noise insulators and earplugs are provided.

  Spacious property with all the necessary amenities. Good location, within walking distance from the city centre.
  
  What could be improved: The room got quite cold (18 degrees) and the air conditioning did not manage to make it warmer. For sleeping under the blanket it is ok, but with the floor being so cold, it was a bit of discomfort during the day and in the morning.
  There is a bit of noise from the cars outside, but bearable.

  Great location…. Bus 20 and in 10 minutes you’re in the centre of the city in Piazza Maggiore. Very clean and very comfortable. Full functioning kitchen although I didn’t use it except from making coffee. A short bus ride to Bologna Centrale train station and the airport Marconi express train.
