Bologna Travel Suite Overview
So I stumbled across the Bologna Travel Suite while hunting for something that wasn’t right in the tourist chaos but still had decent access to the city center – and honestly, this place nailed that balance perfectly. It’s tucked away on Via San Donato in the San Donato district, which I’ll admit sounds super residential and maybe a bit boring, but that’s actually its secret weapon. You’re about fifteen minutes from Piazza Maggiore by bus (the 14 line stops practically at your door), but when you come back at night, you’re in this quiet neighborhood where actual Bolognese people live, not just tourists stumbling around with gelato.
The suite itself feels like someone’s stylish apartment that they’ve opened up to guests – I mean that in the best way possible. The 4-star rating isn’t just marketing fluff; they’ve got this attention to detail that you notice immediately. The check-in was refreshingly smooth, no hovering around a crowded lobby, and the staff actually knew the neighborhood well enough to give real recommendations. You know what surprised me? The soundproofing is excellent. I was worried about street noise since Italian cities can be… lively, but even with the windows open on warm evenings, it stays pleasantly quiet. The Wi-Fi actually works (crucial for me), and there’s proper air conditioning, which trust me, you’ll appreciate if you’re visiting during Bologna’s sticky summer months.
What really sold me on this place was how it sits in the sweet spot between authentic Bologna life and tourist convenience. San Donato has this lived-in feel – there’s a fantastic morning market about five minutes away where locals do their shopping, and the cafes around here serve espresso to construction workers and university professors alike, not just travelers. The area connects easily to the university district too, so there’s this nice energy without the chaos of staying right in the Quadrilatero. Parking can be tricky (like everywhere in Bologna), but the hotel staff knows the neighborhood parking situation better than most locals. The 9.3 rating makes total sense once you’ve stayed here – it’s not trying to be flashy or Instagram-perfect, but everything just works smoothly. You’ll end up in one of those neighborhoods where you feel like you’re experiencing actual Bologna rather than just passing through it, which honestly makes all the difference when you’re trying to understand what makes this city tick.

Reviews of Bologna Travel Suite
Exceptional – Kyprianos from Greece – 20 June 2025 (10/10)
The room was very nice and very clean! They made sure to provide food in the room for the day the bakery was closed. They were also very helpful with the check-in process!
What could be improved: The only downside was that the bathroom bin didn’t have a lid, which was an issue both for hygiene and aesthetics.Superb – Pamgur from Germany – 20 May 2025 (9/10)
The little apartment had everything we needed and more. It's a bit far from the city centre, but there are several bus stops 100m away. Francesca is super nice and responsive.
What could be improved: There is a huge construction site literally just outside the door, so it can be quite noisy at times. They respect the quiet hours, but apparently they only last until 7am. However, the host has done her best to mitigate this: the windows and shutters are good noise insulators and earplugs are provided.Great place to stay. – Oleg from Australia – 19 May 2025 (10/10)
The best equipped property I have ever been to. Attention to detail is incredible.
Lovely place with everything you need – Madalina from Romania – 6 March 2025 (8/10)
Spacious property with all the necessary amenities. Good location, within walking distance from the city centre.
What could be improved: The room got quite cold (18 degrees) and the air conditioning did not manage to make it warmer. For sleeping under the blanket it is ok, but with the floor being so cold, it was a bit of discomfort during the day and in the morning.
There is a bit of noise from the cars outside, but bearable.Recommend – Vaiva from United Kingdom – 23 February 2025 (9/10)
Good location.
Clean and well equipped. Had possibility to cook.
Very good communication from the owners ( additional information was sent).
PS be prepared that it can be quite chilly inside (in winter) and could take >12 hours to warm up this properlyExceptional – Csaba from Hungary – 22 November 2024 (10/10)
everything was great. Owner is communicative, everything went fluently. We really enjoyed staying at this apartment.

Everything!
Very good – Olivier from Sweden – 21 September 2024 (8/10)
Very clean, good communication, comfortable bed and space.
What could be improved: Noisy road, perfume dispenser in bathroom was a bit strong, shower cubicle is small.Exceptional – Kemal from Turkey – 28 June 2024 (10/10)
It was all perfect to stay here. well designed and clean, Francesca was very responsive on every question we asked.
I’ll definitely recommend it 100% – Antonios from United Kingdom – 1 June 2024 (10/10)
Great location…. Bus 20 and in 10 minutes you’re in the centre of the city in Piazza Maggiore. Very clean and very comfortable. Full functioning kitchen although I didn’t use it except from making coffee. A short bus ride to Bologna Centrale train station and the airport Marconi express train.
