Realkasa Amendola Apartment Overview
So I stumbled across Realkasa Amendola while looking for something central in Bologna, and honestly? It’s one of those finds that makes you feel a bit smug about your booking skills. The place sits right on Via Giovanni Amendola, which – if you know Bologna at all – puts you maybe a 7-minute walk from the train station but without any of that gritty station-area vibe you’d expect.
What struck me first was how quiet it actually is inside, despite being on what’s technically a busy street. The apartments have this solid, old-building feel (you know, those thick Italian walls that actually block sound), and the whole setup feels more like staying at a well-organized friend’s place than a typical hotel. I mean, you’ve got proper kitchenettes with real coffee makers – not those pod things – and the kind of shower pressure that makes you wonder why your apartment at home is so disappointing. The décor walks that fine line between modern and characterful without trying too hard, if that makes sense.
Here’s the thing about the location that booking sites won’t tell you: you’re positioned perfectly between the university quarter and the historic center, which means you get foot traffic that’s actually interesting – students heading to lectures, locals doing their shopping – rather than just tourist crowds. There’s this little alimentari around the corner on Via Irnerio where the owner will definitely judge your Italian but sell you incredible prosciutto anyway, and you’re close enough to Via del Pratello that you can stumble home after dinner without paying for a taxi. The 8.4 rating makes sense when you consider stuff like this – it’s not flashy enough to be a 9, but everything just… works.
Parking is actually manageable if you’re driving, though I’d honestly recommend the train since Centrale is so close. The check-in process was refreshingly human – real person, real conversation, none of that sterile hotel lobby theater. They seem to genuinely know the neighborhood and will point you toward places that aren’t in guidebooks. During my stay in September, the area had this perfect buzz level – busy enough to feel alive but not so crowded that you’re fighting for space on sidewalks. I imagine it gets properly hectic when the university is in full swing, but that’s Bologna for you.
The apartment itself feels substantial, if that’s the right word. Good mattress, blackout curtains that actually work, and enough space to spread out without feeling like you’re camping. Little touches like decent hangers and a proper mirror make daily life easier than you’d expect. Is it perfect? Well, the WiFi occasionally got moody, and the neighborhood goes pretty quiet after 11 PM – which is either a blessing or a curse depending on what you’re after. But for a 4-star place in this part of the city, it delivers on the promise of being a comfortable base without any nasty surprises. You’ll sleep well, eat well, and spend your time exploring rather than dealing with accommodation drama.

Reviews of Realkasa Amendola Apartment
Lovely and clean, spacious but extremely noisy from the street. – Lucia from Australia – 5 December 2024 (7/10)
Great size and two bathrooms
What could be improved: Extremely noisy from bin collection two times every night. Our stay was comfortable as the apartment is very comfortable. – Rios from United States – 11 October 2024 (8/10)
It was our HUB to transfer to other cities as it was conveniently closed to the train station. The apartment was adequate for the number of us staying in it. The kitchen was well equipped. As a suggestion, another set of towels, an additional blanket per bedroom and a bath gel dispenser for each shower would be a good idea. Having a washing machine in the apartment was great!
What could be improved: The area the apartment is located was unexpected as it looks a little rundown. However, it was comforting to see pedestrians walking comfortably in the area. The apartment made up for the area it is located.Perfect for families and couples using Bologna as a base to explore the area – Rachel from United Kingdom – 17 July 2024 (9/10)
Really clean and well equipped
Two large bedrooms and two nice modern bathrooms
Great location for the train station (ideal if doing trips to Ferrari etc)
What could be improved: The kitchen/living is slightly small but not really an issue if you’re out most of the day exploringSuperb – Mrs from United Kingdom – 13 June 2024 (9/10)
We were met promptly at the apartment to pick up keys. The apartment is as per photos, 2 large bedrooms both with bathrooms. Very clean and well maintained. The apartment was in a convenient location for train station and Bologna centre. We liked it a lot and would stay here again
What could be improved: The only minor thing is the downside of being close to centre and station makes for a noisy street. You could hear traffic and general hustle and bustle all night.Superb – Silvana from Australia – 27 March 2024 (9/10)
the apartment was very clean and confortable….great location near the station and a short walk to the main sqaure for all dinning needs….
What could be improved: the only sugguestion i could make is that the main bathroom require hooks to place your bath towelsVery friendly host and easy to contact. Property is superbly situated within walking distance to train station and local – Valentina from United Kingdom – 18 February 2024 (8/10)
Very clean and comfortable. It really is a home from home. 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms equipped with everything you need. Secure building, you need to unlock 3 doors before entering the apartment.
What could be improved: It was noisy, despite pulling down the shutters we were able to hear the noise coming from the streets outside.Pleasant – Cindy from Singapore – 20 December 2023 (7/10)
Location near to station and walking distance to food and amenities.
What could be improved: Roads a bit noisy at night.Would stay here again! – Kimberly from United States – 25 June 2023 (9/10)
Apartment was very comfortable and clean. Had everything you could want. Location was walkable to everything we wanted to do.
What could be improved: It was hard to find. There is no signage to tell you that the apartment is behind the big wooden door.Ultimately, it is still a great apartment and good value for what it’s worth. – Lingshan from Singapore – 30 December 2022 (7/10)
The apartment is placed just next to the Bologna central station and about 15 minutes walk to the centre. It is very new and has good amenities sufficient for a family with proper cooker, washing machine etc.
What could be improved: There is a small problem that may not be for others, we find the apartment a little too cold even with the windows closed. We couldn’t get the radiators to a higher setting as there is a cap that limits the settings to no.2.Great location and nice host, will recommend – Jing from United States – 3 December 2022 (9/10)
The location is great, 3 min away from the train station. The host is very nice and friendly. Very smooth communication during check-in and check-out. Unit is true to the pictures. Bathrooms are spacious.
What could be improved: No microwave in the unit; one of the shower room does not drain well. no detergent for the washer.
