It’s tucked away on Via Giovanni Fattori in this quietly residential part of Bologna that most tourists never see – and honestly, that’s exactly what makes it special. I mean, you’re still close enough to walk to the historic center (maybe 15-20 minutes if you take your time), but you wake up to actual neighborhood sounds instead of tourist chatter. The building itself has this understated elegance that feels properly Italian without trying too hard – sort of like staying at your well-traveled aunt’s place, if she happened to have excellent taste and a thing for mid-century furniture.

The rooms are where Casa Meo really gets it right. They’ve managed to hit that sweet spot between modern comfort and local character that so many places mess up. The beds are actually comfortable (I’m talking proper sleep, not just Instagram-worthy linens), and there’s this attention to small details that you notice gradually – like how the lighting works for both reading and getting ready, or the way they’ve positioned everything so you’re not constantly bumping into furniture. The bathrooms feel generous for European standards, with rainfall showers that have decent pressure. What I really appreciated was the soundproofing – Via Giovanni Fattori isn’t exactly a busy street, but you’ll sleep soundly even with the windows open on warm nights.

Here’s the thing about the location that the booking sites don’t really capture: you’re in the Bolognina area, which has become this quietly cool neighborhood where actual Bolognesi live and work. There’s this fantastic morning market just a few streets over that locals hit up for fresh produce, and you’ll find yourself grabbing coffee at bars where the barista remembers your order by day three. The 4-star rating feels earned rather than inflated – it’s not trying to be a luxury palace, but everything works well and feels thoughtfully done. Check-in was smooth (they actually seemed happy to see us, which isn’t always a given), and the staff gave us recommendations that felt genuine rather than commission-driven. The 9.2 rating makes sense when you consider it’s delivering exactly what it promises without any unpleasant surprises. If you’re the type who wants to experience Bologna more like a temporary resident than a tourist passing through, Casa Meo gets the balance right.

  Siamo stati in questo appartamento un mese fa in occasione di un concerto all’Unipol Arena, che si raggiunge facilmente in circa 10/15 minuti di macchina. L’appartamento era molto pulito, accogliente e completo di tutto il necessario. Molto comodo anche il parcheggio privato. I proprietari sono stati gentilissimi e disponibili. Ci siamo trovati davvero bene, lo consigliamo!

  Great apartment. We stayed one night only before an early morning flight from Bologna airport, which was less than 10 minutes' drive.
  Extremely clean, very modern, and well furnished; we liked having breakfast items. It was great to have a parking space just outside the building. We would definitely come back and stay longer.

  The host Jennifer was really lovely,very helpful and responsive. The property was really clean. We also really liked the fact that complimentary snacks and drinks were there on our arrival which was a nice touch.
  
  What could be improved: We liked everything about the property however it was around 15 minutes by bus from the centre of town but that wasn’t really an issue.

  Jennifer left a lot stuff to "survive" the first couple of days without the need to shopping for groceries. For example, coffee, sweet food for breakfast, water, juices, tabs for the dishwasher and the laundry machine. Towels were plenty and Jennifer enquired after three days out of six if we needed fresh towels. The available private parking space is very important because otherwise there would not be any chance of finding one.
  
  What could be improved: Nothing to do with the apartment! Be aware that there are road works in the area, therefore I strongly suggest to follow Google Maps or Waze or something like that to reach the apartment. Road works are not close to the apartment, you won't feel them.

  Beautiful flat in excellent condition and very cool decor / interior design. And thank you for a very generously stocked kitchen with snacks / coffee and tea etc. Hosts were very nice and helpful.

  Good quiet location. Big apartment. Reserved parking place. Great host. Vouchers for breakfast included as well as complementary tea, coffe, water. Very well equiped appartment
  
  What could be improved: Work on the building outside was little bit disturbing, but the host apologised with a bottle of wine which was very heart warming.

  We really enjoyed our stay at Casa Meo, a large, comfortable, clean, lovely apartment. with all the amenities. Self check-in was super easy. Jennifer was super helpful with any questions we had. Located about a 12 minute drive from the center. We will be sure to stay again next time we visit Bologna
