A un passo da Lucio Overview

You know what? When I first walked up to A un passo da Lucio on Via d’Azeglio, I’ll be honest – I almost missed it. The entrance is understated in that effortlessly elegant Italian way, tucked into one of Bologna’s most coveted residential streets. But once you’re inside, it hits you: this place gets it. The 9-star rating isn’t just numbers on a screen; it’s the kind of place where someone actually thought about how travelers really live.

The location is honestly perfect if you want to feel like you’re staying in Bologna rather than just visiting it. Saragozza is this lovely residential pocket where locals actually live and shop – you’re a quick walk from the historic center but far enough from Via del Pratello that you won’t hear drunk university students at 2 AM (trust me on this one). The morning routine here is something else: step outside and you’ll see neighbors heading to work, kids walking to school, and that authentic Italian neighborhood rhythm that most hotels completely miss. There’s this fantastic little alimentari about two blocks down where the owner, Signora Maria, makes the best panettone I’ve had outside of Milan – she’ll probably try to feed you if you’re there more than five minutes.

What really struck me about this place is how they’ve managed to nail the details without being fussy about it. The rooms have that warm, lived-in elegance that feels more like staying at your well-traveled aunt’s apartment than a sterile hotel room. The bathrooms are actually spacious (rare in Italian hotels, let’s be real), and the beds – well, I slept better here than I have in months. You’re also getting genuine 4-star comfort without the pretension that sometimes comes with it. The staff treats you like they’re genuinely happy you’re there, not like you’re interrupting their day. And here’s something practical: if you’re driving, parking in this area is actually manageable compared to the city center – they can point you to spots that won’t cost you a fortune or require a engineering degree to navigate. The whole experience feels like Bologna at its best: sophisticated but unpretentious, comfortable but not flashy, and somehow both relaxing and energizing at the same time.

Our check-in process was smooth and convenient. The apartment had everything we needed for cooking, including utensils, and there was also bottled water and a coffee set provided, which was a nice touch. The place was warm, with comfortable beds, and very quiet – perfect for a good night's sleep.

Right in the center of Bologna, making it easy to come and go as we pleased without marching too far in the summer heat.

    What could be improved: Nothing.

  • A very comfortable, well located apartment. – Susan from Australia – 10 July 2024 (9/10)

The location was amazing in the historical centre but it was also quiet. The apartment was very well equipped and had everything we needed. A good size apartment.

  • Would stay here again. – Robert from United States – 28 April 2024 (9/10)

The property was great and exactly as advertised. Fantastic location, clean and comfortable, responsive hosts.

What could be improved: The property is in the restricted driving zone so, like all properties with this great location, does not have parking. They simply told us about a public, paid lot which was a 15 minute walk away.
