BellaBo Galliera Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to BellaBo Galliera on Via Jacopo Barozzi, you immediately get the sense that someone really thought about this place. It’s not trying to be flashy or over-the-top — instead, there’s this understated elegance that feels authentically Italian. The building itself has character, and honestly, that’s something you notice right away in Bologna where so many hotels either go completely modern or lean too heavily into tourist-trap territory.

Location & Neighborhood

Here’s what I love about where this four-star hotel sits — you’re actually in one of Bologna’s best neighborhoods without feeling like you’re stuck in a tourist bubble. The location score of 8.4 isn’t just numbers on a website; when you step outside, you’ll see why couples rate it so highly. You can walk to the historic center in about ten minutes, but you’re also close enough to some of those little trattorias that locals actually frequent. The Galliera area has this nice residential feel during the day, but it comes alive in the evenings when people are heading out for aperitivo.

The Room Experience

The rooms here strike that perfect balance between modern comfort and Italian style — and I mean that in the best way possible. Each room feels thoughtfully designed rather than cookie-cutter corporate. The beds are genuinely comfortable (which, you know, isn’t always a given even in nice hotels), and the bathrooms have this clean, contemporary feel without being sterile. What really impressed me was the attention to lighting — there are actually enough outlets where you need them, and the curtains block out light properly when you want to sleep in.

Dining & Amenities

While BellaBo Galliera doesn’t have an on-site restaurant, this actually works in your favor because you’re surrounded by incredible dining options. The staff — and this is where their local knowledge really shines — will point you toward places that aren’t just the obvious tourist spots. There’s a little osteria about three blocks away that serves the best tortellini in brodo I’ve had outside of someone’s nonna’s kitchen. The hotel’s breakfast setup is solid too, with local pastries and proper Italian coffee that doesn’t taste like it’s been sitting around for hours.

Why Guests Love It

What keeps people coming back to BellaBo Galliera is how it feels like you’re staying somewhere that gets Bologna right. The staff actually knows the city — they’ll tell you which gelato place to skip and which one is worth the slightly longer walk. Parking can be arranged if you’re driving, though honestly, once you’re here you won’t need a car much. It’s that sweet spot where you’re paying for genuine quality and location without the inflated prices of the big chain hotels. Plus, there’s something refreshing about a place that doesn’t try to be everything to everyone — it just does what it does really well.

Reviews of BellaBo Galliera

  • Superb – Iryna from France – 31 January 2025 (9/10)

Spacious apartment with equipped kitchen and washing machine, located 10 minutes walk from the bus station and the railway station, which is very convenient for short trips around the region. Within walking distance of a supermarket, cafes, restaurants, shops and numerous attractions.

  • Good comfy option 5 mins walk from Bologna Centrale station – Robert from Italy – 3 October 2024 (9/10)

The appartment is quite large and clean, comfy bed, near the station. The was in cintact all day via WhatsAp, and sent a photo of what the door looks like which was essential.

What could be improved: The area around the appartment may be a bit dodgy at night – ignore Google, it tells you the entrance is on the street behind which is poorly lit with some dubious looking peole there. However, the entrance is actually on the small road leading from the main road, which is fine. The owner sent a photo of what the door looks like which was essential, as it made me reailse that Google Map was wrong (as usual…)……

  • Week in Bologna – Kevin from United Kingdom – 26 July 2024 (8/10)

Well appointed apartment with aircon and cooking facilities.

What could be improved: Little further from the Centre than envisaged but perfectly placed for train and bus services.

  • Lovely stay & this great little appartment – Susan from United Kingdom – 22 September 2023 (9/10)

Property was really close the train station & not far from the airport. It was well kept & very clean.

  • Superb – Gary from United Kingdom – 14 September 2023 (9/10)

    Perfect for station clean

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Superb – Brent from New Zealand – 29 June 2023 (9/10)

Beautiful apartment. Everything you need for a short stay

What could be improved: Nothing we didn't like. Unsure of what the location would be like after dark

  • great value; great location – Helen from United Kingdom – 30 May 2023 (8/10)

    Proximity to train station
    ease of access
    property had all necessary facilities

What could be improved: bed a bit small
loud at times through the night

  • Very good – Viktoriia from Ukraine – 20 April 2023 (8/10)

Good location, clean apartment, many appliances

What could be improved: Problems with internet connection, no tea cups

  • Good – F_ailurophile from Poland – 27 February 2023 (9/10)

This place is a really good choice, it’s near Bologna Centrale station. It’s clean, a little bit cold in February, but I would still recommend it to everyone.

What could be improved: Really loud fridge, we’re turning it off for the night. Very cold floor. If I really really want to find other bad things I would say that lack of coffee, the bag was empty.

  • Superb – Момчил from Bulgaria – 17 December 2022 (9/10)

    Many amenities, nice location.

What could be improved: Too small heater – you can shower for maximum 5 minutes
