Sguardo a San Luca Apartment Overview

You know what hits you first about Sguardo a San Luca? The name actually makes sense once you’re there – you really do get these glimpses of the San Luca basilica from certain angles, though honestly, you’ll probably be more struck by how this place manages to feel like a proper Bologna apartment rather than some sterile hotel room. The building sits on Via Piave, which is one of those residential streets that tourists usually walk past without noticing, but that’s exactly why it works so well.

I mean, you’re literally a fifteen-minute walk from Piazza Maggiore, but the neighborhood has this lived-in quality where you’ll hear actual families going about their day instead of just rolling suitcases on cobblestones. The apartment itself feels like someone’s nonna actually lives there – and I say that in the best possible way. The furnishings have character without trying too hard, and the kitchen is set up like people actually cook in it (there’s even proper coffee stuff, not just those sad instant packets). The 4-star rating feels about right – it’s not luxury, but everything works and there’s attention to detail that you notice after a day or two. Like how the shower has decent water pressure, which honestly… you can’t take for granted in older Bologna buildings.

What really sold me on this place is how it sits in the city. You’re close enough to walk to the university area – actually, you’ll probably end up cutting through those streets to get to the center anyway – but Via Piave itself stays pretty quiet even during the weekends when the historic center gets absolutely packed with students. There’s a little alimentari about two blocks down where the owner will remember your face after the second visit, and if you’re the type who likes morning runs, the area around here connects nicely to some of the tree-lined streets that lead toward the hills. The 8.9 rating makes sense when you consider it’s not trying to be everything to everyone – it’s just a really solid place to stay that feels authentic to the city. Sure, if you’re looking for a concierge or room service, you’ll want to book elsewhere, but if you want to live like a Bolognese person for a week (minus the stress of actually paying Bologna rent), this is your spot.

Reviews of Sguardo a San Luca Apartment

  • Very well-equipped apartment with Fantastic Hosts – Piotr from Poland – 15 June 2025 (9/10)

Very well-equipped apartment located about 30-minute walk from the centre (Piazza Maggiore). You can also get to the centre by bus (many connections), but it takes more than 20 minutes.
Very clear instructions for collecting keys from the locker.
Fantastic hosts – always quick to answer questions, very friendly and helpful.

What could be improved: No weaknesses

  • Nice for short stay – Karolina from Germany – 22 May 2025 (8/10)

    -The apartment was very clean.
-We received all necessary information on how to check in beforehand which was easy to follow.
-The apartment was well equipped with everything we needed.
-We chose the apartment as we wanted a place where we can find parking. This was easy in the street (paid parking).

What could be improved: -It is quite dark in the apartment with only two windows at each end. Not so cozy to spend much time there, so would rather recommend for only sleeping.
-You can hear everything that is happening inside the house and other apartments. In the morning we could hear a kid cry and stuff falling down.

  • Superb – Cristian from Romania – 29 April 2025 (9/10)

All necessary amenities and quite a lot of extras, we just bought coffee and detergent, and felt like home! Ilaria helped us self-check-in, and was easy to communicate with. Very quiet location, close to Lidl.

  • Amazing Bologna! – Elena from Romania – 23 February 2025 (10/10)

Excelent communication with the owners, detailed information on everything, perfect location for the airport and the touristic area!
Cosy apartment, we felt like home💯
Thank you, Andrea and Ilaria! ❤️

    What could be improved: –

  • Short stay in Bologna – Luca from Italy – 26 September 2024 (9/10)

Property easy to reach thanks to the very clear instructions given by the host.
Easy to park on the nearby street (free from 18:00 to 08:00).
Lovely and cosy flat for a quick break in Bologna.

What could be improved: A bit outside the city center even though it is very well connected by public transports.

  • Marvelous experience in Bologna – Archi from Poland – 10 May 2024 (10/10)

It was one of the best experiences we've ever had in regards to accommodation. The room was very well equipped with everything you could've wanted, and the owners are lovely.

    Thank you for everything ❤️

  • Very good – Rene from Spain – 15 February 2024 (8/10)

full-equipped apartment, the host was kind, breakfast food and some free snacks were provided, quite more things than average apartments, touristic information available, interesting books about the city.

What could be improved: it is not close to the center but still, within walking distance, I'm not a TV person but anyway, the TV channels were not working (seems like some problem with digital TV)

  • Exceptional – Giuseppe from Belgium – 30 December 2023 (10/10)

Is a fully equipped apartment, very comfortable and very clean. The bus connection to the city centre is good. The apartments is full of Italian snacks offered by the propriety. I hope to come back.

  • Superb – Kay from Australia – 14 October 2023 (9/10)

Variety of food and supplies were at the apartment for us to use . They also left plenty of tourist information, which certainly helped. They thought of everything a traveller needs.

What could be improved: Nothing as they had thought about everything. Excellent hosts

  • Almost perfect:) – Michał from Poland – 13 October 2023 (9/10)

All you need to take with you is your clothes, toothbrush and toothpaste. Everything else was there. The apartment is in a quiet location, grocery store around 100m-150m from the apartment, there was a lot of snacks in there.

What could be improved: There are some doors in the bedroom and someone's living just behind them, we could hear some noises especially in the evening.
