Sette Chiese Apartments Overview

You know what struck me first about Sette Chiese Apartments? The name actually makes sense once you’re there – I mean, you’re literally surrounded by churches in this part of Bologna, and the Via de’ Pepoli feels like one of those streets that locals use as a shortcut but tourists somehow never find. It’s tucked away just enough that you won’t have crowds of people dragging suitcases past your window at 7 AM, but honestly, you’re still close enough to everything that matters. The building itself has that solid, no-nonsense Italian apartment feel – not flashy, but you can tell it’s been thoughtfully converted into proper accommodations.

What I really appreciated was how the place doesn’t try to be something it’s not. These are actual apartments, not hotel rooms pretending to be apartments, so you get real kitchen space (not just a mini-fridge and a hot plate), decent-sized rooms, and – this is key in Bologna – proper storage for all the food and wine you’ll inevitably buy at the markets. The 4-star rating feels about right; it’s comfortable and well-maintained without being fancy. I stayed during shoulder season and barely heard any street noise, though I imagine summer might be different with windows open. The check-in was refreshingly straightforward – none of that overly formal hotel reception desk drama, just practical people who knew their stuff about the neighborhood.

Here’s the thing about this location that you won’t realize until you’re walking around: you’re actually in this sweet spot between the university area and the more touristy centro storico. Via de’ Pepoli connects to streets that’ll take you straight to Piazza Maggiore if you want the classic Bologna experience, but you’re also close enough to the university quarter that you’ll find those little trattorias and bars where students actually eat – which means better food at normal prices. The 8.6 rating seems fair; it’s the kind of place where everything works like it should, the wifi is reliable (crucial if you’re trying to plan day trips or, let’s be honest, just staying in touch), and you feel like you’re living in Bologna rather than just passing through. It’s not going to blow your mind with luxury amenities, but if you want a genuine base for exploring the city without paying centro storico prices, this is exactly what you’re looking for.

Reviews of Sette Chiese Apartments

  • Excited – Konstantinos from Greece – 29 June 2025 (10/10)

Clean and cozy. In perfect area in the city. Customer care incredible when needed.

  • Nice and comfy near the city centre. – Stefania from Greece – 20 June 2025 (9/10)

The apartment was very close to everything in the city centre. It had air conditioning and it was renovated possibly very recently.

What could be improved: The lack of hangers. As we were multiple people inside the apartment, we didn’t have anywhere to place jackets or towels.

  • Best location in Bologna! – Ron from United States – 24 May 2025 (8/10)

The location in Santo Stefano is in the heart of Bologna so it is an easy walk to the most important sites. The apartment was quiet, clean and comfortable. We enjoyed our stay!

What could be improved: The main entry to the property had a very wet musty smell, however, this had no effect on the apartment. The windows have no view so we left the shades closed.

  • Exceptional – Atanas from Bulgaria – 9 May 2025 (10/10)

    Perfect location.

  • Very nice, comfortable and easy stay. – Kylie from Malta – 5 May 2025 (10/10)

Close to centre. Accommodated all five of us.

  • Exceptional – Charmagne from United Arab Emirates – 20 March 2025 (10/10)

Excellent location, very near the Seven Churches and lots of sights, great restaurants and shops within walking distance. The flat was very spacious, clean and modern bathroom and had all amenities we needed for our stay. The staff were very responsive and helpful when we arrived to guide us to the flat and how to check in.

  • Great location. Clean and well kitted out. – David from United Kingdom – 22 February 2025 (9/10)

  • Excellent – Vicky from United Kingdom – 7 December 2024 (9/10)

The location was incredible. The apartment was very clean and we had the sofa bed made up as requested. The arrival instructions were clear

What could be improved: We got a bit confused about the bins and where to put them so a bit more guidance would have been good, although the host kindly offered to deal with the bins themselves which was great

  • Comfortable appartement at a short distance from piazza magiorre. – Harm from Netherlands – 11 November 2024 (9/10)
