So I stumbled upon Gemma Suites while looking for something different in Bologna – you know, tired of the usual hotel routine where you’re basically living in a shoebox. This place is actually a whole apartment on Via Don Giovanni Verità, which honestly sounds way fancier than it needs to be, but the location is pretty solid. You’re in a real neighborhood here, not some touristy bubble, and I mean that in the best way possible.

The apartment itself surprised me – it’s got that authentic Italian living feel without being stuffy about it. The space actually breathes, if that makes sense. You can spread out, cook if you want (the kitchen’s legit, not one of those sad hotel kitchenettes), and it doesn’t feel like you’re camping out in someone else’s life. The furnishings hit that sweet spot between modern and cozy – nothing too precious, but you’re not sitting on furniture that’s seen better decades either. What really got me was the natural light; these old Bologna buildings can be pretty dark, but whoever set this place up knew what they were doing with the windows.

Location-wise, you’re about a 15-minute walk to the city center, which is actually perfect because you avoid the morning tourist stampedes but you can still stumble home after dinner without planning your route like a military operation. The street itself is quiet – I was worried about noise since it’s ground floor, but Bologna’s residential areas have this nice evening rhythm where things wind down naturally. There’s a decent coffee spot two blocks over (not telling you which one because then it’ll get crowded), and you’re close enough to Porta San Mamolo that you can explore that part of the city most visitors never see. The 9.6 rating makes sense when you actually stay here – it’s not trying to be everything to everyone, just doing the apartment thing really well. Check-in was smooth, no drama, and honestly after a few days you sort of forget you’re not just living in Bologna temporarily, which is exactly what you want from a place like this.

  Emiliano war extrem zuvorkommend und freundlich. Er hat mich kostenfrei vom Flughafen abgeholt und mich zur Wohnung gebracht! Er hatte sogar Muffins, Kekse, Kaffee, Milch (laktosefrei!) und Tee bereitgestellt. Das Bad war ebenfalls voll ausgestattet, inkl. Wattepads und Q-Tips. Es fehlte nichts, perfekte Wohnung und Gastgeber 🙂

  The apartment was clean and well-equipped, and everything we needed was there (TV in every room, PS4, etc.). Communication with the owner by WhatsApp and booking chat was quick, the keys were delivered within a few minutes upon request.
  The apartment is 10 minutes from the airport, and the city center is 15 minutes away using an e-bike.
  Some sweets and basic groceries were just a bonus.
  
  What could be improved: The airport is really close, so the planes flying over were a bit noisy.

  This was one of the best apartments we have ever stayed in on Booking.com. Situated in a very nice and quiet neighborhood, 5 minutes to the bus stop with easy connection to the centre, 5 min. to the supermarket. The apartment is on the 1st floor, very comfortable and spacious with two separate bedrooms and a fully equipped kitchen. Spotless clean, newly refurbished. The host Emiliano has taken a great care about each piece of detail you could possibly think of. A lot of compliments in the kitchen – sweets, cooking essentials (sugar, oil, salt), espresso machine with capsules provided and a moka coffee maker; cleaning utilities, dishwasher, kitchenware. There is also a washing machine with detergent provided. The bathroom is excellent, with a separate shower cabin and toiletries. Heating with air conditioners in each room. We really enjoyed our stay in Bologna in this fantastic place. Thank you so much for the comfort and the care, Emiliano!

  Very nice and clean apartment with everything you need, located in a quiet area with plenty of grocery stores and restaurants nearby. Emilio is a very friendly and helpful host. I came for a trade fair and had some issues with taxis and public transport. Emilio was so kind to pick me up from the airport in his own car—many thanks to him for that!

  The apartment is very charming and comes with every amenity you might need! Emiliano and his wive are wonderful hosts and were very flexible with the check in and out. A five minutes walk from the apartment are a small park and a fairly big supermarket which was very comfortable.
  
  What could be improved: Just keep in mind that the way in the city centre (e.g piazza Maggiore) is a little longer, but easily done by bus. For me that wasn’t really a negative thing though.
