Sant’Orsola Lodge Bologna Overview
You know what caught me off guard about Sant’Orsola Lodge? The moment I walked in, it felt like someone’s incredibly well-appointed home rather than a hotel. I mean, sure, it’s technically a 4-star place, but honestly – and I’ve stayed at plenty of Bologna hotels – this feels like they’re underselling themselves. The 9.9 rating makes total sense once you’re actually there.
The location on Via Carlo Alberto Pizzardi is one of those spots that locals know but tourists usually stumble upon by accident. You’re in a proper residential neighborhood, which means you get to see how Bolognesi actually live, but you’re still close enough to walk to the university area and the historic center without breaking a sweat. What I loved was how quiet it gets at night – none of that tourist-zone chaos you deal with closer to Piazza Maggiore. The street itself is lined with these beautiful old buildings, and there’s this neighborhood bakery about two blocks down that locals queue up at every morning. Trust me on this one.
The staff here actually remembers your name after day one, which sounds small but makes such a difference when you’re dealing with Italian bureaucracy or need restaurant recommendations that aren’t just the obvious tourist traps. They pointed me toward this little osteria near Via San Vitale that I never would have found otherwise. The rooms themselves have this perfect balance – modern enough that everything works properly (the WiFi is genuinely fast, and the shower pressure is excellent), but they’ve kept enough character that you don’t feel like you’re in some generic chain hotel. The beds are seriously comfortable, and they use these crisp white linens that somehow stay cool even during Bologna’s sticky summer nights.
What really sets this place apart is the attention to details that matter when you’re actually living somewhere for a few days. The breakfast isn’t just continental hotel nonsense – they’ve got proper local pastries and coffee that doesn’t taste like it came from a machine. There’s decent storage space in the rooms, the lighting is warm and actually useful for reading, and – this might sound weird – but the bathroom amenities smell amazing. Like, I kept using the soap just because it reminded me of some expensive spa.
The neighborhood comes alive in the evenings, especially around aperitivo time. You’ll hear families chatting from their balconies and smell dinner cooking from open windows. It’s quintessentially Bologna in a way that staying in the tourist center just isn’t. Plus, parking is actually manageable around here if you’re driving, which anyone who’s tried to park in Bologna’s center will appreciate.
Honestly, this is the kind of place I’d book again without hesitation. It’s got that rare combination of being professionally run but still feeling personal. The kind of spot where you end up extending your stay because leaving feels like abandoning a friend’s place. For Bologna, especially at this price point, it’s pretty much perfect.

I had a wonderful stay at this apartment! Everything was exactly as described — clean, cozy, and very well-equipped. The location is perfect, close to public transportation, shops, and restaurants, yet quiet enough for a peaceful night’s sleep.
The host was incredibly friendly and responsive, always available to answer questions or offer local tips. I especially appreciated the small touches, like fresh towels, coffee, and toiletries — it really made me feel at home.
I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area. Thank you for a great experience!💯🩷I highly recommend it – Aliki from Greece – 15 June 2025 (10/10)
Beautiful modern apartment, recently renovated, exceptionally clean, with very nice aesthetic and a fresh smell when you walk in. Greta, the host was very helpful and nice, a true professional.
What could be improved: The air condition was a little loud (but maybe there could be a setting in the remote that we did not know) and that there are a few stairs between the entrance and the elevator, which is a small inconvenience if you have a stroller or heavy luggage.Home away from – Jacob from Germany – 12 June 2025 (10/10)
Greta was a fantastic host and made our stay thoroughly enjoyable right from the start. The two balconies are lovely to have breakfast on, the beds were really comfortable and the bathroom was decent sized. What more could you want?

A Wonderful Stay Thanks to an Amazing Host!”
I had a fantastic experience at this B&B! The location is perfect—quiet, yet close enough to the city and right by the hospital. But the real highlight was Greta, the host. She went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. From local tips to helping with transport and even restaurant recommendations (don’t miss the one just a few minutes away!), Greta was always available and truly cared about making my stay comfortable. It’s rare to find someone so genuine and helpful. Highly recommended—I’ll definitely be back!

I had the most delightful experience staying at this charming apartment. Everything exceeded my expectations, but what truly made my stay unforgettable was the wonderful owner of the hotel. She was the epitome of kindness—always smiling, incredibly warm, and genuinely dedicated to making her guests feel at home. Her attentive and caring nature turned an ordinary stay into a heartwarming memory. I left with not only great satisfaction but also with the feeling that I had been welcomed like family. I would highly recommend this place to anyone seeking comfort, sincerity, and unforgettable hospitality 🥰❤️

I highly recommend Greta's place. We had everything we needed and more, just like at home. Parking is also convenient, you'll easily find spots on the street.
What could be improved: Nothing comes to mind, everything was perfect. We loved our visit. We would absolutely stay here again. – Porter from Spain – 21 April 2025 (10/10)
The location was excellent. Bus stop on the same block. Property is located in a very quiet, scenic neighborhood overlooking a park across the street. The property owner lives in the same building and was very responsive when we had a question. Nice touches included a bottle of wine, popcorn, and other snacks. The property was very clean and comfortable.
What could be improved: We don't have any suggestions for improvements.Exceptional – Alfred from Austria – 7 April 2025 (10/10)
