This place actually surprised me in the best way possible. It’s tucked into the San Donato district, which honestly feels like you’re staying in a real Bologna neighborhood rather than some touristy bubble. The area’s got this authentic residential vibe – you’ll hear kids playing in the courtyard next door in the evenings, and there’s a little alimentari just around the corner where the owner will chat with you about the weather while you grab morning cornetti.

What really struck me about this hotel is how they’ve managed to feel both modern and… well, sort of homey at the same time. The rooms are clean and thoughtfully designed – nothing fancy, but everything works properly (which, let’s be real, isn’t always a given in Italy). The beds are actually comfortable, and I mean genuinely comfortable, not just “good enough for a few nights” comfortable. The bathrooms are compact but well-planned, with decent water pressure and those little touches that show someone was thinking about what travelers actually need. Parking was surprisingly hassle-free too, which anyone who’s driven in Bologna will tell you is basically a minor miracle. The staff at check-in spoke solid English and seemed genuinely helpful rather than just going through the motions.

Here’s the thing though – San Donato isn’t exactly central Bologna, so you’re looking at about a 15-20 minute bus ride to get into the historic center. But honestly? I kind of loved that. The 14 bus runs pretty regularly and drops you right near Piazza Maggiore, and staying out here means you’re paying way less than you would for something comparable in the center. Plus, you get to see how actual Bolognesi live – there’s a fantastic trattoria called Da Mario about three blocks away that I never would have found if I’d stayed in the tourist zone, and their tortellini in brodo was better than anything I had in the city center. The neighborhood gets properly quiet at night too, so you’ll actually sleep well. The hotel sits at an 8.3 rating, which feels about right – it’s not going to blow your mind, but it does everything it promises to do, and does it well. If you’re the type who wants to experience Bologna like a temporary local rather than just tick off the major sights, this place makes a lot of sense.

  Es ist eine schön eingerichtete Wohnung. Sauber und alles vorhanden was man braucht.
  
  What could be improved: Die Wohnung liegt in einer großen Anlage, die Zimmer sind doch etwas hellhörig. Man hört die Geräusche der Nachbarschaft. Die Wohnung ist leider weit weg von der Altstadt Bologna. Mit dem Bus kommt man um 2,5€ in 5 Stationen in die Stadt.

  The apartment had a nice layout and great beds.
  
  What could be improved: The kitchen was filthy, the fry pan in the cabinet had cooking oil still in it, the forks had food stuck to them and the plates and bowls were not that clean. The cook pot had small pasta bits stuck to inside. We wound up washing most of the kitchen utensils, dishes and pans.
  
  The house was hard to find because it is down a private street which Google maps doesn't show well.

  Lovely apartment with spacious bedrooms. It is very nicely finished off and decorated. Close to busses to get into Bologna main centre. We even walked to Bologna old city – was quite a long walk but do-able.
  
  What could be improved: The Apartment wasn't ready for check-in and the surrounding area isnt great. The managing agent said we should check in at 13.30 as she would be able to hand over the keys then. She then asked if we could come at 10.30 and leave our luggage there as she had a very busy day. Was happy to do that so dropped off our luggage and took the keys. She said she would let us know when the apartment was ready as the cleaners were due any minute. The cleaners hadn't even been by offfical check-in at 14.00. I went back at 14.45 and it still wasn't ready. I messaged the agent at 15.00 and she didn't know if they'd been and suggested I went to check. By that time we'd abandoned hanging around as there isn't anything to do in the immediate area and went to get something to eat. We only got back at 17.45 and it was ready then so they must have only come to clean sometime between 14.45 and then. It was quite annoying that we paid for accommodation but couldn't use it. I wasn't impressed with the managing agent. The neighborhood isn't very great but fine as a base to get into Bologna main tourist area.

  Big apartment and quite modern looking.
  
  What could be improved: Firstly, the check-in process was little bit rude. We had also misunderstanding about how many people are staying and rather than looking into it, they just asked extra money. When I explained that I am sure that I made reservation for more people, then they discovered that there was some system bug. The guy, who let us in, just basically handed the keys and tried to ask more city tax(we had paid it already in their check-in link) so he wasn’t even aware.
  Secondly, they knew day before our check-in that there will be more people coming. Second bedroom was not ready – sheets wasn’t changed and no towels.
  Lastly, apartment wasn’t clean. Floors were dirty, in the diswasher, there were someone elses dirty dishes.
