You know what struck me first about Dimora Marconi? It’s tucked into this gorgeous old building on Via Marconi that feels completely residential until you spot the discreet entrance. I mean, you’re literally staying in what feels like a historic Bolognese apartment building – which, honestly, is exactly what makes it special. The street itself is pretty quiet (thank god, because some of those central Bologna streets can get crazy with the Vespa traffic), and you’re maybe a ten-minute walk from Piazza Maggiore without being stuck in the tourist chaos.

The whole place has this elegant, understated vibe that’s so refreshing after staying in cookie-cutter hotels. They’ve clearly put thought into the restoration – the original architectural details are still there, but everything feels fresh and well-maintained. What I really appreciated was how the staff actually seemed to know Bologna inside and out. When I asked about dinner recommendations, they didn’t just rattle off the usual tourist spots but pointed me toward this incredible osteria on Via del Pratello that I never would’ve found otherwise. The rooms themselves are spacious by Italian standards (and I’ve stayed in enough shoebox-sized places to appreciate that), with these beautiful high ceilings and windows that let in tons of natural light. The bathrooms are modern without feeling sterile, which is honestly harder to pull off than it sounds.

Here’s the thing about the location – and this is something you only really get once you’ve walked around Bologna for a while – you’re positioned perfectly between the university area and the historic center. So you get this nice mix of local energy from the students and easy access to all the major sights without feeling like you’re camping out in a tourist bubble. The 8.4 rating makes total sense to me because while it’s not trying to be some flashy luxury property, it absolutely nails what it’s going for. It’s the kind of place where you can imagine settling in for a few days and actually feeling like you’re living in Bologna rather than just visiting. The only minor thing I’d mention is that if you’re planning to drive, definitely sort out parking in advance – this part of the city center can be tricky to navigate with a car, but honestly, once you’re there, you won’t need it anyway.

  Great apartment ! Very comfortable and also the bed and pillows, big wardrobes, lovely balcony. The 15 days we stayed we felt like home. Very good location.. many cafes and restaurants just actoss the street, max 10 minutes walk to the center and 15 minutes to the train station. The building has an elevator, only 7 steps to reach the elevator. The host is easy reachable and very friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed our time there. Thank you ☺️

  Location is great, across the street to the market delle Erbe and restaurants, at 5 minutes from Piazza Maggiore. The windows are facing internal courts, so no noise from traffic, but being at 4-th floor was not claustrophobic at all. The small elevator helped after the long walks. We had a folder with information, so it was OK.
  
  What could be improved: We went in February, the heating is not dimensioned properly, the rooms are tall, and the windows are aluminium so there was a lot of condensate running over. Frankly I would go back in summer anytime, but in the winter… it was to cold at night, and the temperature control is operated by wire from the office.

  The location was great being walking distance from everything. The bed was comfortable and the apartment was quiet. The lounge area was lovely with great recliners and TV. The washing machine was excellent. The shower was good. The kitchen was good. The host was very helpful at all times. I highly recommend.

  Odległość od dworca i centrum. Dwie osobne sypialnie. Balkon. Pralka w mieszkaniu. Spokojna okolica. Blisko do sklepów. Jest winda, ale bardzo mała.
  
  What could be improved: Nie było brudno, ale przydałaby się gruntowne porządki. Deska do prasowania i żelazko wymaga wymiany. Dziwny zapach po wejściu, który jednak po gruntownym przewietrzeniu mieszkania zniknął. Chyba długo przed nami nikt tam nie mieszkał.
