The rooms are honestly refreshing after staying in so many cookie-cutter hotels. There’s actual character here – exposed beams, original brick walls, but they’ve managed to blend it with modern comfort without making it feel like a museum. The beds are properly comfortable (not just Instagram-pretty), and the bathrooms actually have decent water pressure, which… well, anyone who’s traveled through Italy knows that’s not always a given. What really got me was the attention to small details – like how the windows are positioned so you catch glimpses of the medieval towers between buildings, or how the staff genuinely seems to know the neighborhood inside and out.

Location-wise, you’re about a three-minute walk from Piazza Maggiore, but here’s the thing – you’re far enough from the main tourist chaos that you can actually sleep at night. I stayed there during the university semester, and while you definitely hear some student life echoing through the narrow streets (it’s Bologna, after all), it’s more charming than disruptive. The morning routine became grabbing coffee at the little place around the corner on Via degli Orefici – the barista there makes this incredible cappuccino that honestly ruined me for airport coffee forever.

Parking is… well, it’s Bologna’s city center, so don’t expect miracles, but the hotel staff actually helped coordinate with a nearby garage, which saved me from circling the medieval streets like a confused tourist. Check-in was smooth – no corporate script, just genuine recommendations about where to eat (their suggestion for tortellini was spot-on) and which streets to avoid during the evening student rush.

The whole experience feels authentic in a way that’s getting harder to find. It’s not trying to be a luxury destination or a boutique Instagram moment – it’s just a really well-run hotel that happens to sit in one of Italy’s most underrated cities. The 9.1 rating makes total sense when you experience it; it’s the kind of place where everything works the way it should, the staff treats you like a person rather than a reservation number, and you end up extending your stay because you’re not ready to leave yet. Bologna itself has this incredible food scene and university energy that doesn’t feel performative – it’s just genuinely alive in a way that makes you want to come back.

  Wat een prachtig appartement! Ruim en netjes. 3 slaapkamers met badkamer en prima keuken. Goede locatie, echt een aanrader! We hebben een extra handdoekenset bijgevraagd dit was 8 euro p.p. en werd netjes en snel geleverd.

  Excellent, large apartment in great location – 10-15 minute walk to train station and Neptune square. Apartment is very large – three full baths + two clear bedrooms and a separate living area with sofa bed that can be shut off into a third bedroom.

  A lovely, spacious property with a stylish modern interior in a great location. We were absolutely delighted with our stay, and the key holder was a pleasure to deal with.
  
  What could be improved: It was a little noisy in the bedrooms on Saturday night when the street was at its busiest, but other nights were perfectly quiet. It wouldn’t stop me from returning.
