Palazzo Marsili Harmony Overview
You know what? I’ve walked past Palazzo Marsili Harmony dozens of times on Via d’Azeglio without really noticing it – which is actually perfect, because once you step inside, you realize that’s entirely the point. This place doesn’t need to shout from the street; it whispers elegance from behind those understated doors, and honestly, that 9.6 rating starts making sense the moment you walk into the lobby.
The thing about staying here is that you’re basically living like a Bolognese local, but with way better linens than any of us actually have at home. Via d’Azeglio runs parallel to the main shopping drag, so you’re maybe three minutes from all the tourist stuff if that’s your thing, but you’re also on this quiet tree-lined street where actual residents walk their dogs and chat with neighbors. I mean, the morning sounds are espresso machines and bicycle bells, not tour buses – which, trust me, makes a difference when you’re trying to sleep off all that mortadella and Lambrusco from the night before. The rooms have this sort of refined-but-not-stuffy vibe going on, like staying at your well-traveled aunt’s place if she happened to have impeccable taste and a serious budget for thread counts.
What really gets me about this place is how they’ve nailed that sweet spot between feeling special and feeling real. The staff actually knows Bologna – not just the obvious recommendations, but they’ll tell you which osteria has the best tagliatelle al ragù (and it’s probably not the one you found on Instagram), or that Thursday evenings are perfect for wandering the Quadrilatero because the locals do their shopping then and the whole area comes alive. The building itself has this gorgeous historical character – you can feel the centuries in the walls and the way the floors creak just slightly – but they’ve modernized everything that actually matters. The Wi-Fi works, the shower pressure is fantastic, and there’s proper air conditioning for those brutal July days when Bologna turns into a brick oven. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle in this part of the city, but they’ve got arrangements that actually work, unlike some places that just shrug and point you toward the chaos of downtown traffic. I’ve stayed here during both the quiet August exodus when half the city disappears, and during the busy spring months when the university students are back – honestly, it maintains that calm, almost sanctuary-like feeling regardless of what’s happening outside on the streets.

Reviews of Palazzo Marsili Harmony
Lovely big apartment in great location! – Candice from Australia – 14 July 2025 (10/10)
Wonderful huge apartment! The location is fantastic, building feels really safe & the apartment amenities are great. Having a full sized fridge, oven, stove was great (we didn’t need to cook because in Bologna there honestly is no need!). But things like cooking oil & things were provided. Good sized bathroom and big shower with strong hot water. Aircon worked great (no problems during the heatwave) & good wifi too. My friend said the fold out couch was comfy. Host was very responsive and met us right on time. Would highly recommend this place for groups or families especially as there’s so much space!
Perfect place – highly recommended ✅ – Aleksandar from Serbia – 19 June 2025 (10/10)
The bed was exceptionally comfortable, with two sets of pillows to suit different preferences. Everything was spotless, spacious, and cozy.
The host was friendly, helpful, and very easy to communicate with.
This was also the first place we’ve ever stayed that provided a generous amount of tasty Nespresso capsules – such a thoughtful touch. 🙂 Thank you!A lovely, clean modern apartment in an old palazzo within walking distance of all the main attractio – Ann from Australia – 12 June 2025 (10/10)
The host was extremely helpful. Offered advice on how to reach the apartment from the airport, met me at the front door then proceeded to show me how everything worked. The location was very convenient. Less than 10 minute walk to the central piazza. Facilities were clean and the shower was great. Very spacious feel to the apartment. City tax payment was organised efficiently and my host Nicolo, even organised a taxi for my departure to the train station. Would recommend.
What could be improved: Only two small things…Front door lock was challenging to master and it would be useful to have a large, sharp knife in addition to the usual everyday cutlery.Perfect – Simona from Romania – 12 March 2025 (10/10)
The location is absolutely perfect, we walked by foot everywhere and we had lots of great restaurants and shops nearby, the appartment looks exactly like the photos, it is very clean, spacious and bright. The kitchen is fully equipped and had everything we needed, the bathroom was very clean and we had a lot of towels. Nicolo was very helpful and he made our stay perfect, if we ever come back in Bologna we’re 100% coming back. I cant think of a single bad thing to say about the accommodation.
Gorgeous apartment in a wonderful location! – Sarah from United Kingdom – 12 November 2024 (10/10)
A beautiful apartment in a historic palazzo. Everything was as seen on the photos and was sparkling clean. Spacious rooms and very nice bathroom. Plenty of bathroom & laundry supplies were provided. We were met by Nico who was delightful and showed us round and how to operate things. He also sent us his restaurant choices which were good! The location of the apartment could hardly be more perfect as it's a couple of minutes' walk to the Piazza Maggiore and the rest of the Old Town. We stayed for 7 nights and were very comfortable – would stay there again in a heartbeat!
What could be improved: This is just a personal preference but a full size ironing board would have been more useful for dresses! Apart from that, everything was wonderfulAmazing location, lovely apartment, excellent host! – Helen from United Kingdom – 28 September 2024 (10/10)
It was very clean, easy to find, beautiful and safe. Nic was a fantastic host, lots of recommendations of restaurants- we were able to check in early, and he stored our luggage ahead of our evening flight. Thank you!
What could be improved: Nothing! It was superbComfortable short stay in central Bologna. – John from Australia – 5 September 2024 (9/10)
Spacious, great location, very clean, comfortable bed, shower excellent. Brilliant host.
What could be improved: Hint: practise unlocking the door.Pure magic: an amazing apartment housed in the medieval Bologna palazzo, right in the city centre! – Dariya from Germany – 19 August 2024 (10/10)
To begin with, Bologna is one of the most enchanting and stunningly beautiful cities in Italy. If you have any doubts about whether it is worth visiting – yes, it definitely is! Moreover, Palazzo Marsili Harmony is a truly magical place encapsulating all the charm that the city possesses: located in the very heart of it, behind the grand wooden door of a medieval palazzo, it opens itself to you like a fairytale. Close the door behind you, and you will find yourself in a quiet medieval courtyard. Then turn left towards the entrance, where you will find the (entirely not medieval, but super-convenient! 😉 elevator… or you can opt for one flight of stairs, its ceilings decorated with frescoes – and up you go to the second floor´s majestic hall with elaborate wrought iron doors and beautiful chandeliers… Another flight of stairs up – and you are carried, as if in a time machine, into a super-modern, perfectly equipped, quiet, comfy apartment. We absolutely loved it! The location is unbeatable as well. Simply perfect!
Special thanks to Nico for the warm welcome and for taking such good care of us :))
P.S. Just in case you, like myself, were wondering what those slightly weird semi-circular dark windows in the bedroom are (as per website photos) – no, they do not open to some sort of a dull solid wall of the next building, but to the absolutely beautiful hallway with the chandeliers downstairs, which definitely adds some extra charm to this already magical apartment 🙂
What could be improved: Nothing really. If you want to get the vibe of Bologna – this is the place for you. Absolutely and whole-heartedly recommended.Highly recommended. One of the most comfortable apartments we stayed at in Italy! – Yen from Australia – 4 July 2024 (10/10)
Super comfortable, large apartment with ample space. Recently renovated, so fixtures are all new. Very clean.
Apartment is up two flights of stairs. There is a lift that takes you up one level, then the other set of stairs you have to do by foot.
Good location at the edge of the historical centre, so easy to reach the many restaurants and attractions Bologna has to offer by foot. Takes about 5 minutes to walk to the bus stops that take you to and from Bologna Centrale train station.
We were greeted by Nico, who was friendly and sent us recommendations of good restaurants and gelaterias.
Overall one of the most comfortable places we stayed at during our trip in Italy. Highly recommended!
