Ramo Rosso di Paolo Natalini Overview

First Impressions

Walking into Ramo Rosso di Paolo Natalini, you immediately sense this isn’t your typical four-star hotel. The personal touch is evident everywhere — from the carefully curated artwork to the way the staff greets you by name after just one night. Paolo has created something genuinely special here, and honestly, it feels more like staying at a sophisticated friend’s place than a commercial property. The intimate scale means you’re not just another guest checking in, which is refreshing in a city where tourism can feel pretty impersonal.

Perfect Bologna Base

The location on Via Col di Lana puts you right in the sweet spot of Bologna — close enough to everything that matters but tucked away from the tourist chaos. You’re about a ten-minute walk to Piazza Maggiore, which means you can actually enjoy morning coffee without the crowds. I love that couples consistently rate this area so highly because it really does have that romantic, authentic Bologna vibe. The neighborhood has those narrow medieval streets you see in photos, but you’re also near modern conveniences like the train station when you need to explore beyond the city.

The Room Experience

Let me tell you about the beds — they’re genuinely exceptional. I mean, hotel beds are usually hit or miss, but these are the kind where you actually sleep better than at home. Each room feels individually designed rather than cookie-cutter corporate, with thoughtful details like quality linens and proper blackout curtains. The bathrooms are modern and well-appointed, though the spaces vary since this is a converted historic building. You know what I appreciated most? The soundproofing actually works, which isn’t always guaranteed in Bologna’s older buildings.

Morning Rituals

Breakfast here strikes that perfect balance between Italian tradition and international expectations. The continental spread includes excellent local pastries and proper Italian coffee (obviously), but they also understand that travelers sometimes want familiar options. The buffet setup lets you take your time, and the Italian specialties really showcase regional flavors — the local cheeses and cured meats are particularly good. I actually found myself looking forward to breakfast each morning, which doesn’t always happen at hotels.

Why Guests Love It

What sets this place apart is the attention to detail without the stuffiness. Paolo and his team have figured out how to be professional while keeping things warm and personal. The combination of excellent sleep quality, thoughtful service, and that prime Bologna location creates something pretty special. You’re paying for a four-star experience but getting touches that feel more premium — like having staff who remember your coffee preferences or can recommend that perfect little trattoria around the corner. It’s the kind of place where you’ll find yourself planning your next Bologna trip before you’ve even checked out.

Bologna hotels keep food lovers close to fresh pasta workshops, balsamic tastings, and cobbled alley trattorie.

Reviews of Ramo Rosso di Paolo Natalini

  • Exceptional – Katarína from Slovakia – 12 July 2025 (10/10)

A lovely and clean apartment with a beautiful terrace and a spacious bathroom. There was a fridge in the room, and breakfast was served in a spacious shared kitchen and on the terrace. The walk to the city center takes about 30 minutes, almost entirely under arcades, which makes it a pleasant and shaded route. There are also two supermarkets within walking distance.

  • Recommended – Valentyna from Ukraine – 7 July 2025 (10/10)

Perfect place to stay, small, comfortable, clean and cozy & the hotel owner is very friendly.

By walk: around 20-30 min to the city center, 30 min to the main train station Bologna Centrale, 10 min to the bus station Ospedale Maggiore, from where the bus goes to the airport.

  • Spotless clean and comfortable, extremely accommodating owner, and convenient to get to the center – Marla from Spain – 4 July 2025 (10/10)

The apartment is spotless clean with new, colorful, and nice facilities. Paolo, the owner, is very accommodating and friendly. The free breakfast is good. Easy check-in to the apartment, and convenient way to get to the center as well.

    What could be improved: None

  • We will be back! – Jennifer from United Kingdom – 1 July 2025 (10/10)

Simply outstanding. We will definitely stay here when we come back to Bologna. Really good value and easily accessible from the centre via the local bus.

    What could be improved: Nothing.

  • Great place to stay! – Isa from Netherlands – 2 June 2025 (9/10)

Paolo was very nice and made our coffees and breakfast each morning. Place was clean and we had our own bathroom in a separate place. We could also borrow the bikes, which was a nice addition

What could be improved: Place is somewhat outside of the city centre, it is a 20-minute walk.

  • The best host in a lovely B&B :)) – Clemens from Austria – 26 April 2025 (10/10)

Paolo is such a nice host, really friendly and forthcoming. He puts a lot of effort into the breakfast buffet, even if there are only few guests, he's given us a lot of tips regarding good restaurants and gettng around Bologna. We also got to store our luggage long after the check-out time. The room is lovely, very clean and comfortable. All in all, an amazing experience for a really good price!!

What could be improved: Only negative thing is that we couldn't stay longer :))

  • Exceptional – Viga1992 from Italy – 1 March 2025 (10/10)

Paolo Is a great host! He was very chatty and very curious about getting to know us.
He gave us tips about Bologna and he was clear and friendly.
The location is amazing for both going into the city centre and going to watch bologna at the stadium.
The room is wonderful with everything you need.
Breakfast is really nice and very chill.
    Definitely recommend it!

  • Exceptional – Nadejda from Bulgaria – 23 February 2025 (10/10)

Very nice place. Good location. The host was great,so helpful and responsive.

  • Very good – Sarah from Germany – 2 November 2024 (8/10)

Nice room, flexible check-in, very good breakfast, separate tables, fridge and water cooker in the room, luggage storage (without lock) possible

What could be improved: We found the area nice, but small walk to the city centre necessary

  • Great spot for a comfortable room and wonderful breakfast and host! – Susan from Canada – 25 October 2024 (10/10)

The room was comfortable with a great shower and breakfast was amazing! Paolo was eager to please and very kind.
Our stay was just after the flood so things were on a bit of upheaval in the city but we still enjoyed it and hope the people of Bologna don’t have to go through this again.

What could be improved: Just a little further from the old city when the weather isn’t so cooperative but if it had been dry it would have been fine!
