Goito Home Overview
You know what caught me off guard about Goito Home? The fact that it’s tucked away on the second floor of this classic Bolognese building on Via Goito – I mean, you’d walk right past it if you weren’t looking for the entrance. But honestly, that’s part of its charm. It feels more like staying at a well-connected friend’s apartment than checking into a typical hotel.
The location is actually brilliant if you know Bologna at all. Via Goito runs parallel to Via Indipendenza, which means you’re literally a five-minute walk from the main train station but far enough away that you don’t hear the constant rumble of travelers dragging suitcases over cobblestones at all hours. I stayed there in late spring, and the morning ritual became grabbing an espresso from the little bar around the corner – the one where the barista nods at you by day three – then wandering down toward Piazza Maggiore. Takes maybe fifteen minutes on foot, and you pass through some of those gorgeous porticoed streets that Bologna’s famous for.
What I really appreciated was how the place strikes this balance between being polished (it’s definitely earned those four stars) but not sterile. The rooms have that lived-in elegance – quality linens, decent air conditioning that actually works during those sweltering summer afternoons, and windows that open wide enough to let in the evening breeze. The building itself has character, you know? Those old Italian floors that creak just slightly when you walk across them, high ceilings that keep things cool, and thick walls that mean you’re not hearing your neighbors’ conversations. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward – no lengthy speeches about amenities, just practical info about the best nearby spots for dinner and where to find parking if you’re driving (spoiler: don’t drive in Bologna if you can help it).
The 8.3 rating makes sense to me because this isn’t the kind of place that’s trying to wow you with marble lobbies or concierge services. Instead, it nails the fundamentals really well. The shower pressure is strong, the Wi-Fi doesn’t cut out when you’re trying to video call home, and the breakfast – when they offer it – features actual local pastries, not those sad international hotel croissants. I actually ended up extending my stay by two nights because it felt like such a solid base for exploring the city. You’re close enough to the university area to grab aperitivo with the locals, but you can also easily catch trains to Florence or Milan if you want to do day trips. It’s that sweet spot where you feel like you’re experiencing Bologna as it actually is, not some tourist-bubble version of it.

Great central location, excellent host
What could be improved: We were told two days before we arrived that there would be some noise during the day from renovation work in the apartment above. To be fair, the host offered free cancellation but we felt it was too late to find a suitable alternative. The noise started at 8am and was very loud and disruptive.perfecte plek om Bologna te verkennen – Roger from Netherlands – 8 August 2024 (9/10)
De locatie was perfect, alles in het centrum op loopafstand.
Erg ruim appartement met de veel faciliteiten.
Prijs kwaliteit was top

What could be improved: noneOkay …. – Mary from Canada – 31 October 2023 (7/10)
The location is great , very close to city centre and lots of room in the apartment. It would have been nice to have had a few condiments available (salt, pepper …anything) for guests. Also a map of the area , as we had to go out and buy one . We found it to be good, but overpriced.
