Le Suites dell’Edera Overview

You know what struck me first about Le Suites dell’Edera? It’s tucked away on this quiet residential street in Saragozza – Via Giovanni Livraghi – which honestly, most tourists never even find. I mean, you’re literally staying in a neighborhood where actual Bolognese people live, not some tourist bubble. The address says “interno 18” which basically means it’s this gorgeous converted building where they’ve created these apartment-style suites. Walking up, you’d almost miss it if you weren’t looking for the discreet signage, but that’s part of the charm. The whole area feels authentically Bologna – you’ve got local bars where guys in paint-splattered overalls grab morning espresso, and the kind of small grocery stores where the owner actually knows your name after two visits.

The suites themselves are… well, they’re what I wish more hotels would do. Instead of cramming you into a standard room, you get these spacious apartments with actual kitchens (not just a mini-fridge and microwave, I’m talking full kitchens), separate living areas, and bedrooms that don’t feel like afterthoughts. The design hits that sweet spot between modern comfort and Italian character – exposed brick here and there, but also proper blackout curtains and reliable wifi. Honestly, the 8.7 rating makes sense because they’ve figured out the details that matter. The shower pressure is excellent (trust me on this one), the beds are firm enough that you won’t wake up with a backache, and there’s actual storage space for your clothes. I also loved that each suite feels different – not like they ordered everything from the same hotel furniture catalog.

Here’s the thing about the location that really matters: you’re about a 15-minute walk to the historic center, but you’re also right in the heart of where Bologna actually happens. The Saragozza neighborhood has this amazing covered portico that eventually leads up to San Luca – locals use it for evening runs and weekend strolls. Plus, you’re close enough to Via del Pratello (Bologna’s nightlife street) that you can walk home after dinner without needing a taxi, but far enough away that you won’t hear drunk university students at 2 AM. The nearby streets have those tiny osterie where you can get incredible tortellini in brodo for like 8 euros, and there’s a morning market on Saturdays where vendors sell everything from fresh pasta to vintage leather jackets. Parking can be a bit tricky if you’re driving – it’s restricted traffic zones everywhere – but the staff actually knows how to navigate all that bureaucracy. After staying here, I get why it’s got four stars and that solid rating. It’s not trying to be flashy or Instagram-perfect, it’s just really, really good at being a comfortable base for exploring Bologna the way it should be explored.

    The location is excellent.

  • Good place to stay in the city centre of Bologna – Kristin from Germany – 26 June 2025 (9/10)

Awesome area to stay. Close to everything. perfect shared kitchen with coffee, tea, cakes, water and cooking area. Very clean place and friendly, helpful staff. Shower gel in the room. Nice bathroom.

What could be improved: The room could be a bit more cozy with some small lights at the bed.

I was asked a few times to pay the tourist tax, although I have paid it immediately when I was asked for the first time. That was a bit confusing.

  • Superb – Lidia from Russia – 23 June 2025 (9/10)

We loved everything, and the host let us keep a luggage in the common kitchen for a couple of hours

  • Superb – Victoria from United Kingdom – 27 May 2025 (9/10)

Really great location. Everything was provided – including coffee facilities.

    The location and the cleanliness

    What could be improved: –

  • Superb – Fabio from Netherlands – 18 May 2025 (9/10)

Position is super central with plenty of bars and shops close by; good communication with the host; nice shared kitchen with free snacks and teas; clear instructions to access, safe and secure

What could be improved: Nothing to complain about

  • Very good – Iuliana from Romania – 15 May 2025 (8/10)

Good location, quiet and clean area, 5 minutes walk to Piazza Maggiore. The room and common area was very clean. Good coffee, tea, milk, snacks and water available in the kitchen. Lots of stores, places to eat near by.

What could be improved: In the room description on booking we saw shampoo and hair, but there were none. But overall all good.

  • Bologna in primavera – Julinda from Italy – 12 May 2025 (8/10)

Very clean, furnished with taste, and a good choice of cookies and snacks for breakfast.
One of the managers, Zakaria was really helpful and exceptionally kind. He made things so easy for us !

What could be improved: Entering the building was a bit complicated but once in contact with the number we received ,all went smoothly.

  • Extraordinary location – Simonag405 from Romania – 7 May 2025 (10/10)

Clean room, super central, and close to a lot of turistic monuments.

  • Perfect location, nice building and apartment. Clean, safe, but no air condition. – Orsolya from Hungary – 3 May 2025 (10/10)

Nice, modern room. Please be aware this is a huge apartment with individually closed rooms with its own bathroom. The kitchen is shared with the other rooms. I felt pretty safe (solo woman traveller).

What could be improved: It was a very warm week in May and there is no air condition. Nights were okay after keeping the windows open for an hour or so, but I can imagine it being horribly hot in summer months.
