Clavature LuxuryApartment Overview
So I stumbled across Clavature LuxuryApartment completely by accident while wandering through Bologna’s centro storico, and honestly? It’s one of those places that makes you feel like you’ve cracked some kind of local code. The building sits right on Via Clavature – which, if you know Bologna at all, puts you literally steps from the covered markets where actual Bolognesi do their shopping. I mean, you can smell the mortadella and fresh pasta from the street-level shops when you walk out the front door. The morning sounds are incredible too – vendors setting up, espresso machines hissing, that whole authentic Italian morning symphony you can’t fake.
What struck me immediately was how they’ve managed to create this luxury feel without that sterile hotel vibe that makes you afraid to touch anything. The apartments – and they really are apartments, not just hotel rooms with a kitchenette shoved in the corner – have this lived-in elegance that actually makes sense in a 14th-century building. The restoration work is thoughtful (you can still see original brick archways and beamed ceilings), but they’ve added all the modern stuff you actually need. The kitchens are properly equipped – I’m talking real coffee makers, not those pod machines – and the bathrooms have those rainfall showers that actually work. You know what I really appreciated? The soundproofing. Despite being right in the heart of everything, it’s surprisingly quiet at night, which is saying something for Bologna’s old center.
The location is honestly ridiculous in the best way. You’re a two-minute walk from Piazza Maggiore, but you’re on this little side street that feels completely removed from the tourist chaos. Via dell’Indipendenza – the main shopping drag – is right there, but you’re tucked away from the crowds. And here’s something only locals seem to know: there’s a tiny osteria called Da Vito literally around the corner that serves the best tortellini in brodo you’ll find anywhere, and the staff at Clavature actually knows about it (they mentioned it during check-in, which was refreshingly personal). The 9.6 rating makes total sense when you experience it – it’s not trying to be everything to everyone, it’s just doing the luxury apartment thing really, really well. If you’re the type who wants to feel like a temporary Bolognese rather than a tourist passing through, this place gets it. Just book early – there aren’t many units, and word is definitely getting out.

Lovely apartment right next to Piazza Maggiore – Zeina from Lebanon – 1 July 2025 (10/10)
The apartment was very spacious and lovely and right on Piazza Maggiore with easy access to all sites. Veronica was very responsive for any questions and was kind enough to let me stay after checkout time until it was time for my train.
A truly luxury apartment steps away from Piazza Maggiore – Megan from United States – 16 June 2025 (9/10)
Incredible location just off Piazza Maggiore. Very clean and upscale fixtures. We appreciated the toiletries and nespresso machine. Victoria was very friendly and helpful before and during check-in
What could be improved: The shower did not drain well. Not an issue, but just of note, there's no lift and located on the second floor for those with accessibilty issues.Brilliant – Alfie1234 from United Kingdom – 21 May 2025 (10/10)
Everything. Fantastic apartment and host.
What could be improved: liked everything and great locationExceptional – Vivian from Portugal – 20 May 2025 (10/10)
The apartment was clean, comfortable, well equipped and furnished. It was spacious and tastefully decorated. The apartment was very well situated for many of the main tourist attractions and restaurants.
What could be improved: Not much to dislike! This apartment is a gem! It's a perfect place to stay in Bologna. – Babette from Italy – 17 May 2025 (10/10)
We loved this apartment. It's in a great location and is surprisingly quiet inside. Aircon would give you the option to keep windows closed at night if needed but we didnt find it noisy even with them open…the rooms are all a good size and well furnished. Amenities provided were much better quality than we expected and well thought out. Beds were comfortable. The host is superb. Overall a really great stay and we would book it again. This was a wonderful find.
What could be improved: We were happy with everything. The perfect place to stay! – Pariena from United Kingdom – 23 March 2025 (10/10)
This apparent was the most sweetest place. Perfectly sized. Host was lovely, very friendly and helpful, Veronica was a call away should we need her. The cleanliness was spot on perfect. I was here on business with another colleague and we both were blown away by this perfectly authentic and modern apartment. Location was great, sitting in the heart of the town, literally! No unnecessary noise, easy to get in and out. Perfect, perfect and perfect!!!!
What could be improved: EverythingPerfectly located apartment. – Suzanne from United Kingdom – 18 December 2024 (9/10)
Fantastic location.
Very clean and spacious
What could be improved: The single beds seemed very tinyPerfect for 4 friends keen to explore Bologna’s food and culture, of the many dozen places I have booked on this platfor – Sandra from United Kingdom – 15 October 2024 (10/10)
Location couldn’t be better, just off main square, the whole town is walkable. Apartment is tastefully decorated & modern in a traditional building. Perfect for 4 friends. Atmospheric and super clean, with a well stocked kitchen (thanks for the wine!) and bathroom. Good soundproofing, lively lane noise stays outside when windows closed.
What could be improved: There’s nothing to dislike, Veronica made sure we had all we needed – even bag storage on day of departure was arranged. Suggest you change the “shared kitchen and shared lounge” in the listing description, it’s misleading. There’s nothing shared about this exclusive apartment.Loved the place host was very helpful and I would stay there again. – Evangelos from Australia – 9 October 2024 (10/10)
The location was fantastic, the apartment was spacious and provided plenty of amenities including wine.
What could be improved: The pillows were a little hardExceptional – Petar from Bulgaria – 16 August 2024 (10/10)
Everything was fine. Comfortable, cosy apartment in the very centre of Bologna, close to most restaurants and bars. A coffe machine with coffe capsules is available. We even had as a welcome gift a bottle of prosecco. I recommend!
