You know what struck me first about Bologna Chic Ristori? It’s actually tucked away in San Donato, which honestly works in its favor – you’re close enough to everything that matters but far enough out that you won’t have drunk university students stumbling past your window at 2 AM. The whole area has this quietly residential feel, tree-lined streets where locals walk their dogs in the evening, and Via Adelaide Ristori itself is one of those pleasantly unremarkable Bologna side streets that somehow feels more authentic than staying right in the centro storico.

The hotel itself has that modern Italian aesthetic down pat – clean lines, lots of white and warm wood, the kind of place where everything looks Instagram-ready but still feels lived-in. I mean, they’ve clearly put thought into the details here. The rooms have this nice weight to the curtains, proper blackout ones that actually work (trust me, this matters when you’re jet-lagged), and the bathrooms have those rainfall showerheads that don’t feel like a gimmick. What really got me though was the breakfast setup – they do this thing where the coffee is proper espresso bar quality, not the usual hotel swill, and the pastries are clearly from a local forneria. You’ll see businesspeople from the nearby offices mixing with travelers, which I always take as a good sign.

The location is honestly perfect if you know how Bologna works. You’re about a 15-minute tram ride from Piazza Maggiore, sure, but here’s the thing – you’re also walking distance to some of the best trattorias that tourists never find. There’s this little place called Osteria del Borgo just around the corner that does incredible tortellini en brodo, and the hotel staff actually knows about it (they’re not just pointing everyone toward the same three touristy spots). Plus, if you’re flying in or out, you’re maybe 20 minutes from the airport, which beats fighting traffic from the city center. The staff speaks excellent English but they’re also happy to help with your terrible Italian – I watched them patiently help an American couple figure out the bus system to Modena. Parking is straightforward too, which anyone who’s driven in an Italian city will tell you is basically a miracle. With a 9.3 rating, honestly, it shows – this place just works without trying too hard to impress you.

  What could be improved: il contenitore raccogli acqua del condizionatore sul balcone era spaccato a causa del caldo, avendolo trovato pieno (!) è stato un disagio (relativo) sollevarlo per svuotarlo.La macchinetta per caffè a cialde era piena di residuo e al primo uso è fuoriuscito il vecchio residuo. E' il motivo per cui il voto non è eccellente
