Marconi Apartments Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to Marconi Apartments on Via Guglielmo Marconi, you immediately get that feeling you’re in the right spot. This four-star property sits right in the thick of things in Bologna — I mean, you can practically feel the city’s energy buzzing around you. The building itself has that classic Italian charm without being too fancy or intimidating, which honestly sets the perfect tone for what’s inside. The entrance welcomes you with warmth and authenticity that you simply don’t find everywhere.

Location That Actually Matters

Here’s what I love about this place — you’re genuinely in Bologna’s heart, not some tourist version of it. You know how couples rated the location 9.1? That makes total sense when you’re staying here. You can walk to the main piazzas in minutes, but you’re also surrounded by those little streets where locals actually hang out. The morning coffee runs become part of the experience because there are authentic cafés right around the corner, and you’ll find yourself discovering new routes to the same places every day. Every corner reveals something unexpected and delightful.

The Apartment Experience

What sets Marconi apart is that you get an actual apartment rather than just a hotel room. Each unit has its own kitchen, which honestly changes everything about how you experience Bologna. You can grab fresh ingredients from the local markets — and trust me, the markets here are incredible — then come back and cook with a view of the city. The spaces feel lived-in rather than sterile, with enough room to actually spread out and relax after long days of exploring. This flexibility transforms your stay into something far more personal and memorable.

Daily Life Here

The staff knows Bologna inside and out, which becomes obvious pretty quickly. They’ll point you toward the best aperitivo spots (not the obvious tourist ones) and give you realistic walking times to different neighborhoods. There’s something refreshing about staying somewhere that feels connected to the actual city rhythm. You’ll notice other guests tend to be a mix of couples and travelers who clearly did their research — people who wanted to experience Bologna properly rather than just check it off a list. This creates a wonderful community atmosphere throughout your stay.

Why Guests Love It

That 9.2 location score isn’t just numbers — it’s about waking up and being able to walk to incredible restaurant recommendations within five minutes, or deciding spontaneously to explore a different quarter of the city without needing transportation. The apartments give you flexibility to eat in or out, to come and go as you please, and to really settle into Bologna’s pace. Plus, there’s parking available, which anyone who’s tried to drive in Italian city centers will appreciate. It’s the kind of place where you end up staying longer than planned because leaving feels like you’re abandoning a temporary home rather than just checking out of a hotel. The experience lingers long after you depart.

Bologna’s hotels wrap guests in Renaissance art, rooftop lounges, and concierge-led Mortadella market tours.

Reviews of Marconi Apartments

  • Good communication with host – Sally from United Kingdom – 5 August 2024 (8/10)

    Excellent location
    Clean
Short walks to supermarkets, restaurants and bars

  • Great location and value – Gracie26 from Ireland – 30 July 2024 (8/10)

Lovely apartment with great location to all the bars and restaurants. In a busy part of Bologna which we loved. Apartment was clean and comfy and if you wanted to work there you could. Tables and desks for working and great wifi.

What could be improved: The curtains need to be replaced in the bedroom as some are see through and there are no curtains in the kitchen and you have to walk from bedroom to toilet via kitchen so needs curtains.

  • I recommend it. Very modern and clean. Location is good. I will come back. – Salih from Turkey – 24 June 2024 (9/10)

Very comfortable. New furnuture and good facilities. Location.

    What could be improved: Nothing.

  • BOLOGNA – Robert from United States – 19 June 2024 (8/10)

Central location. Minutes to train station, rental car, and main attractions. Large apartment, clean and ready

What could be improved: Expense was spared on all amenities. Very inexpensive furnishings and most items to make you feel at home.

  • Great location and value. Facilities were excellent and communication easy. – Julie from United Kingdom – 7 May 2024 (9/10)

The location was very central. Decor and facilities. Everything you need for 1 night or many more.

What could be improved: The local bars and restaurants are fabulous and so close in laneways behind apartment but were still noisy at 1am.
Wasn't a problem but bring earplugs if needed. We stayed on a Saturday night too so may not be every night.
Also, if sleeping on the sofa bed, curtains in the kitchen are net and let the light through – so bring eyemask.

  • In the middle of the city! – Miriam from Germany – 31 March 2024 (8/10)

Property is in the middle of the city. Bars and pubs are just around the corner and we were able to explore everything easily. Bus stops are also near the apartment. Parking is 10 min away on foot (do not drive to the apartment as it costs money to drive through the city Center!)
The apartment has an ok size for 3 people. Coffee and important appliances were provided.

What could be improved: We didn’t find the bedding and towels for the third person. Host didn’t react to messages. In the end we found extra bedding and towels in the pouf of the couch but a tip or some kind of notice would have been good!!
Also: note that there is a tinted window between bathroom and bedroom… you have to like each other if you know what I mean 😉

  • Superb – Shaneca from Switzerland – 22 June 2023 (9/10)

The location of the property is great. Close to shopping and eating.

  • A lovely apartment in the heart of Bologna, perfect 1-2 night stay for a couple. – Ben from Australia – 15 March 2023 (8/10)

The property is situated in a great location, near plenty of shops, supermarkets and attractions. Spacious accommodation for a couple and perfect for an overnight stay.

What could be improved: The pillows could be replaced, and the mattress is starting to sag a little bit in the centre, but for a 1 night stay it was fine.

  • Superb – Anna from Greece – 4 January 2023 (9/10)

The location was great, very cozy and clean apartment. The host was very helpful!

What could be improved: the Wi-Fi wasn’t great

  • Bologna is a perfect place for long weekend. – Delicja from Poland – 10 October 2022 (8/10)

Good communication with the owner. Very good location, all main attractions are within 1km from the place. We got precise instruction how to get the keys (safe box) and collect them without a problem. Apartment is very sunny (its actually a mezzanine floor), one bedroom and living room with kitchenette. Very clean. Kitchen unfortunately did not have any of cutlery except 2 knifes and 2 tea spoons, but we did not need it. There are so many restaurants around that its a pity to cook at the apartment. Mercato delle Erbe is just around the corner. Downstairs there is a coffee shop for breakfast (sandwiches and cookies/sweets).
Taxi from the airport – $17.

What could be improved: Lack of window shades (just curtains), no cutlery in the kitchen, no place to hang towels in the bathroom.
