You know what surprised me about Perugino Home? It’s actually tucked away in this quiet residential pocket of Bologna that most tourists never see, but you’re still only fifteen minutes by bus from the historic center. I mean, Via del Perugino sounds fancy, but it’s honestly just a pleasant tree-lined street in the Savena district where real Bolognese families live. The building itself has that understated Italian elegance thing going on – not flashy, just solid and well-maintained in a way that makes you think someone actually cares about the place.

The rooms are what I’d call thoughtfully designed rather than just pretty. Yeah, they’ve got the usual 4-star amenities, but there are these little touches that show someone was paying attention – like how the bathroom lighting is actually flattering (miracle!), and the beds are positioned so you’re not staring at a wall when you wake up. The soundproofing is surprisingly good too, which matters because Italian families can be… enthusiastic neighbors. I stayed there during late spring when Bologna gets crazy busy with students and tourists, and honestly, you’d never know from inside. The air conditioning works properly – not always a given in Italian hotels, trust me.

What really sold me on this place was the neighborhood vibe. There’s a fantastic little alimentari around the corner where this elderly signora will slice your prosciutto paper-thin and actually smile while doing it. The morning routine became grabbing fresh focaccia from there, then walking to the small park nearby with my coffee. You’ll see joggers, dog walkers, kids heading to school – it’s like getting a peek into actual Bologna life instead of just the tourist version. The bus stop to get downtown is literally two minutes away, and the buses run frequently enough that you won’t be checking your watch constantly. Plus, and this is huge – there’s usually street parking available, which in Bologna is basically winning the lottery. The staff seemed genuinely helpful rather than just polite, if that makes sense. When I asked about restaurants, they recommended places where locals eat, not tourist traps. That 9/10 rating honestly feels right – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in the city, but everything works the way it should, and you’ll sleep well knowing you found something authentic.

  What could be improved: Getting into the apartment was a little difficult due to old keys that were difficult to use to open the door. It is located in a residential area so you feel a little out of sorts as a tourist.

  Loved everything! Nice, calm, residential area. No disruptions, great ice cream place near by (Cremeria Supernatural Gelato). Nicely decorated, AC works great (no AC in the rooms tho so it gets pretty warm in there), wifi works great, stove works great!
