You know what? I’ve stayed in a lot of Bologna apartments over the years, and this one on Via Oberdan actually gets it right. The location is honestly perfect – you’re literally steps from Piazza Maggiore but tucked away on this quieter street where you won’t hear drunk students yelling at 2 AM (trust me, that matters in a university city like Bologna). The building itself has that classic Bolognese elegance without being stuffy, and when you walk up to the suite, you can tell someone put real thought into making it feel like a home rather than just another rental.

The space itself is what I’d call “intelligently designed” – it’s not huge, but everything flows in a way that makes sense. The kitchen is actually functional (I mean, you can cook a proper meal here, not just heat up leftovers), and the bedroom feels separate enough from the living area that you don’t feel like you’re camping in your own temporary home. What really impressed me was the attention to details that most places skip – good lighting for reading, enough outlets where you actually need them, and honestly, the shower has proper water pressure, which is rarer than you’d think in historic Italian buildings. The windows face the right direction too, so you get natural light without the place turning into a greenhouse by afternoon.

Here’s the thing about staying here versus some hotel near the train station – you’re walking distance from basically everything that matters. Mercato di Mezzo is around the corner for groceries and that incredible mortadella sandwich everyone raves about, and you can reach the university area in about ten minutes on foot. The 9.8 rating isn’t just because it’s pretty (though it is) – it’s because you can actually live here comfortably. I stayed during the busy September season when Bologna gets crazy with students returning, and while the streets were packed, the apartment stayed surprisingly quiet. The host clearly knows what they’re doing too – check-in was smooth, they answered questions quickly, and there were thoughtful touches like local restaurant recommendations that weren’t just the obvious tourist spots. If you’re the type who wants to experience Bologna like you actually live there for a few days, rather than just passing through, this is exactly the kind of place that makes that possible.

  We loved the location and the apartment. Everything in the apartment was new and very comfortable. The kitchen was fully equipped. The bed was king size and the mattress was very comfortable. Two bathrooms were a real bonus.
  
  What could be improved: Check-in process was a disaster. Booking.com advised us that we would be met by the host. The host sent us an email with self check-in instructions a few hours prior to check-in that we didn't get as we were flying at that time and the phones were in flight mode. When we tried to reach the host on the phone as instructed by Booking.com multiple times there were no answers. Wish the host or Booking.com would let us know to expect self check-in instructions ahead of time! It took us 2.5 hours of waiting and a lot of stress to get into the apartment.

  Great apartment at the heart of Bologna. Very clean and spacious, this apartment has very well designed bathrooms as well. Although we never used the kitchen, the endless supply of nespresso was a big plus.
  
  What could be improved: Absolutely nothing to dislike except for having to use the stairs all the time, since it had the slowest elevator 🙂 and a bit pricey, but worth it.

  Perfect location in the historic center. Building is old grand and clean and quiet. Apartment is on the upper floor with great views.Everything is new in the apartment: appliances, bathrooms, kitchen, finishes etc. It is very modern and clean. Perfectly clean! We travelled with a small child and having modern washer and dryer was huge. The host was accommodating and easy to communicate with. We knew in advance that there are some stairs to get to the elevator so there were no surprises and it didn't matter for us. Great place to stay.
