You know what struck me first about Morgana sotto le torri? The name actually makes perfect sense once you’re standing there – you really are “under the towers,” with Bologna’s famous Due Torri practically looming over you. I mean, Via San Vitale isn’t some tucked-away side street; it’s right in the thick of the centro storico, which sounds touristy but honestly just means you can stumble out the door and be at Piazza Maggiore in maybe five minutes.

The building itself has that perfect Bologna vibe – it’s clearly been renovated with care, but they didn’t strip away all the character trying to make it look like some generic boutique place. The 4-star rating feels right; it’s polished without being stuffy. What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays at night, despite being so central. Bologna’s old town has this amazing way of absorbing sound once the evening crowds thin out, and the rooms face inward enough that you’re not dealing with late-night revelers stumbling down the cobblestones. Actually, the cobblestones are something to consider if you’re dragging heavy luggage – but that’s true anywhere in this part of the city.

The staff clearly know their neighborhood, which makes a huge difference when you’re trying to figure out where to grab an actual good mortadella sandwich (not the tourist traps around the corner) or which osteria won’t have a line out the door. They get that most people staying here want to experience Bologna properly, not just tick boxes on some itinerary. The whole setup feels like it’s designed for people who actually care about where they’re staying – the kind of travelers who’ll walk twenty minutes to find the right market or spend an afternoon getting lost in the Quadrilatero just to see what they discover. I noticed they keep the front area pretty understated, which I liked; some places in historic centers try too hard to scream “authentic Italian experience” and end up feeling like a theme park. Here, you just feel like you’re staying somewhere that happens to be really, really well-located and thoughtfully run. Plus, that 9.4 rating isn’t just impressive numbers – you can actually feel why people rate it so highly once you’ve spent a night or two there.

  This place is very quiet to stay in. The washing machine worked well and the heated towel rack made drying efficient. There was a good assortment of supplies in the kitchen as well. Location was terrific.
  
  What could be improved: There are two apps from the same service involved. The first we had issues uploading passports, tax payments and had to find an alternative method. The second was needed to get into the apartment and worked well after a learning curve.

  The location was excellent! It was so easy to get anywhere from there, almost at the base of the two towers! The apartment was immaculately clean and very well equipped with anything you need. It was comfortable and safe. The hist left a huge variety of snacks and was very helpful on the few occasions when we needed a tip about the town.

  The apartment was very comfortable, clean, beautifully decorated. It was in a convenient location. The owner was very helpful when I had difficulty getting in. The apartment had everything I needed. Breakfast was provided, including pastries, eggs and ham. There was also a mini Gaggia for making fresh coffee.
  
  What could be improved: I had some trouble getting in as there was a link to an app to access the apartment. It was easy once I got used to it but it was awkward at first. Also the apartment doesn't have much natural light. This would help keep it cool in summer but in November I had to have the lights on all the time.
