So I stumbled across MARGOT APARTMENT on Via de’ Carracci last spring, and honestly – it’s one of those places that gets better the longer you stay. The building itself has this understated elegance that’s very Bologna, you know? Not flashy, but there’s character in the old stonework and the way the morning light hits those tall windows.

What really struck me was how the owners seemed to actually understand what travelers need. I mean, you walk in and there’s this immediate sense that someone put real thought into the layout – not just threw furniture into rooms and called it a day. The kitchen setup actually works (shocking, I know), and the bathroom has proper water pressure, which after bouncing around Italian apartments for years, I never take for granted. The beds are genuinely comfortable too, not just decent-looking. You can tell they invested in quality mattresses, which honestly makes all the difference when you’re doing the whole Bologna food tour thing and need proper recovery time.

Location-wise, you’re about a fifteen-minute walk from the historic center, which means you avoid the tourist chaos but you’re still close enough to wander over for aperitivo without planning your whole evening around it. Via de’ Carracci is actually pretty quiet – mostly residential with a few local spots that locals frequent. There’s this little alimentari around the corner where the owner, Maria, will set you up with proper mortadella and local cheese if you’re planning to eat in. The 8.1 rating makes sense to me – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in town, but everything works smoothly and the attention to detail shows. I had zero issues with check-in, the WiFi was solid (crucial for sorting out day trips to Modena), and the whole experience felt more like staying at a well-run friend’s place than a typical hotel. You know what I mean? No pretense, just good execution on the basics that matter.

  The location is great for the proximity to the main train station in Bologna. Excellent value for the price in this location. There is traffic noise which decreases in the evening. The hosts, Grazia and Andres were especially helpful at all times. Wonderful support from them. The apartment is clean, recently renovated, simple and attractive. Bed and futon couch were comfortable, and a good hot shower. Will return when passing through Bologna.

  I must admit that this apartment was amazing. In fact, it was very clean and cozy. It was very nice that the owner left croissants and candies for us. In this apartment, we found everything that we needed. The beds were made pretty nice. I liked this interior design and decoration.
  
  What could be improved: To be honest, this apartment has only one con. It's pretty noisy, and we heard how people talked outside. It's located next to the train and gas stations. Also, we couldn't use the pan because it was scratched.

  excellent location right opposite the train station. had a problem with the exact location (even though they had sent me directions before which I ignored!) and phoned them at 10pm and they were very helpful. found a cold bottle of water in the fridge and some croissants which were very appreciated. very comfortable apartment, no stairs, so excellent especially when travelling and having an overnight stay at Bologna.
  
  What could be improved: would have loved to have some coffee pods for morning espresso. but really nothing to complain

  Location, only 120m from stazione centrale, so great if you have to leave early in the morning. It was very clean, access to the apartment was easy, the host replied soon when we had a question.
  
  What could be improved: The apartment was divided into two separate rooms but the wall which seperates the rooms is not up to the ceiling so you could hear each other even when whispering
