You know what struck me first about the Indipendenza Loft? It’s actually in a proper palazzo – one of those elegant Bologna buildings that makes you feel like you’re staying somewhere with actual history, not just another cookie-cutter hotel. The address might say Via dell’Indipendenza 66, but honestly, you’re going to want to look for the entrance on the side street because the main road can be a bit chaotic with all the foot traffic heading toward the train station.

The loft-style rooms are genuinely spacious – I mean, when they say loft, they actually mean it. High ceilings, exposed beams in some units, and these massive windows that let in all that gorgeous Italian light. The whole place has this industrial-chic thing going on, but done thoughtfully, not like someone just threw some metal fixtures at a wall and called it design. What I really appreciated was the kitchen setup – proper appliances, not those tiny hotel fridges that barely fit a bottle of wine. Perfect if you want to grab some mortadella and parmigiano from Tamburini (which is literally a five-minute walk) and have a proper Italian breakfast instead of paying hotel prices.

Location-wise, you’re golden here. The university quarter is right at your doorstep, so there’s always this vibrant energy, especially in the evenings when students spill out of the bars along Via Zamboni. But here’s the thing – despite being so central, the building itself is surprisingly quiet. The courtyard seems to buffer most of the street noise, though I’d still recommend asking for a room facing away from Via dell’Indipendenza if you’re a light sleeper. The staff actually knows the neighborhood – they pointed me toward this tiny osteria on Via Pescherie Vecchie that I never would have found otherwise, and steered me away from the tourist traps near the Two Towers. Check-in was smooth, no weird complications, and they’re genuinely helpful with restaurant recommendations that go beyond the obvious spots. The 8.7 rating makes sense to me – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in Bologna, but it gets the important stuff right and has real character. If you want to feel like you’re living in Bologna rather than just visiting it, this is your spot.

  tutto bene, posto perfetto, al centro di bologna una volta parcheggiata la macchina ti puoi muovere a piedi con estrema facilità, l'host tutto ok, a disposizione per tutto, nonostante i lavori esterni non abbiamo sentito nulla
