Lovely Studio D’Azeglio by Studio Vita Overview
You know what struck me first about this place? The address alone tells you everything – Via D’Azeglio is one of those tree-lined streets that locals actually walk down for pleasure, not just to get somewhere. It’s tucked in Bologna’s centro storico, which sounds fancy but really just means you’re right where the good stuff happens without being in the thick of tourist chaos.
The studio itself is honestly what I’d want if I were staying in Bologna for more than a couple nights. Studio Vita clearly knows what they’re doing – the space feels thoughtfully designed rather than just thrown together with IKEA furniture (though there’s probably some IKEA in there, let’s be real). What I appreciated most was how they managed to make a studio feel spacious instead of cramped. The kitchen setup is actually functional, not just decorative, which matters when you’re picking up ingredients at Mercato delle Erbe just a few blocks away. The bathroom has decent water pressure too – I mean, it’s not a power shower, but after walking Bologna’s porticoes all day, it hits the spot.
Location-wise, you’re about a ten-minute walk from Piazza Maggiore, but here’s the thing – you’re far enough away that you won’t hear drunk tourists at 2 AM. Via D’Azeglio has this nice residential energy where you’ll see actual Bolognesi heading to work in the morning. There’s a solid aperitivo spot called Osteria del Borgo practically around the corner, and if you head toward Via delle Belle Arti, you’ll hit the university quarter where the energy picks up considerably. Parking is… well, it’s Bologna, so forget about street parking, but there are a couple of garages within walking distance if you absolutely need a car.
The check-in process was smooth – they actually met me at the property, which felt more personal than grabbing keys from some random tabaccheria. The building itself has that slightly worn Italian charm where everything works but looks like it’s been there forever. You’ll hear some street noise during the day, but honestly, that’s part of the Bologna experience – the sound of scooters and people actually living their lives.
What really sold me on the place was the attention to small details. Good coffee setup, decent Wi-Fi that didn’t cut out every twenty minutes, and enough outlets in useful places. The bed was comfortable enough that I didn’t wake up feeling like I’d been wrestling with it all night. For a 4-star place, it delivers on the promise without trying too hard to impress you with unnecessary amenities you’ll never use.
If you’re the type who wants to experience Bologna like you’re temporarily living there rather than just passing through, this studio nails that vibe. It’s got that sweet spot pricing where you’re not paying for marble bathrooms you don’t need, but you’re also not wondering if the sheets were actually washed. The 8.5 rating makes sense – it’s really good at what it does, just don’t expect miracles.

What could be improved: The smell from the room, not that much natural lightConvenient location and nice apartment with a good restaurant and excellent coffee shop next doors! – Sigita from United Kingdom – 9 November 2023 (9/10)
Location.
What could be improved: Doors have additional prison like security frame – creates bad impression about area / neighbourhood.Superb – Alexandre from France – 28 September 2023 (9/10)
As it is named, it is a lovely studio very well located 7 minutes walking from old center of Bologna.
Exceptional – Galovičová from Slovakia – 22 August 2023 (10/10)
Everything was great. The host was still available. The apartment was clean, cozy and had everything you need for a short stay. Right next to the apartment there were groceries and a wonderful bakery with a cafe. The apartment was close to the center, but at the same time in a quiet location.

What could be improved: There was an issue with my card which I’ve never had before. Had to follow up on this which wasn’t ideal when I was there for limited time. But the staff member was lovely and helpful. Card worked everywhere else before & after…..The apartment was a little cold & I didn’t figure out the heating but nothing majorA well-placed comfortable spot for a short stay – Rachel from United Kingdom – 25 October 2022 (8/10)
A good comfortable studio in a great location for visiting central Bologna. Excellent amenities for a stay. Modern spotless bathroom area. Studio was at the back of the building so not so much light but beautifully quiet.
Good – Anelė from Lithuania – 15 September 2022 (7/10)
Nice location, cute space in general, like old fashioned ceiling, cute heart lamp above the bed and nice TV to watch in the evenings
What could be improved: There was no water in refrigirator as written, there were no washing powder for washingmashine, the bathroom door doesnt close properly, lots of sound in upper floor you can hear at any time during night/morning/day, cooker hood doesnt work at all, it just extracts fume to up not outside, also kichen stove works only half, bed is combined two mattreses, which is really not comfortable, should be cheaper than 150€ per night.
