Lame 15 Overview

So I stumbled across Lame 15 during my last trip to Bologna, and honestly? I’m kind of mad I didn’t know about this place sooner. It’s tucked away on Via delle Lame – which, let’s be real, sounds way cooler than it actually is (lame means “blades” in Italian, referring to old knife-making shops). The thing is, this street puts you in this perfect sweet spot where you’re close enough to walk to Piazza Maggiore in about fifteen minutes, but far enough out that you’re not dealing with tourist crowds right outside your window.

The hotel itself has this understated thing going on that I really appreciated. You know how some four-star places try way too hard with marble everything and chandeliers? This isn’t that. Walking in, it feels more like staying at a design-savvy friend’s place – clean lines, good lighting, and they’ve actually put some thought into the details. My room had this amazing view of the neighborhood’s terracotta rooftops, and I mean, you can’t really go wrong with that classic Bologna backdrop. The beds are legitimately comfortable too, which… well, you’d be surprised how many places mess that up. I slept like a rock, even though I was worried about street noise (Via delle Lame can get a bit busy during rush hour, but honestly it dies down pretty quick after dinner).

What really sold me on this place was the staff – they actually knew the neighborhood. When I asked about getting to the university area, the guy at reception didn’t just point me toward the main drag like most places would. He told me about this shortcut through Via del Pratello that cuts right through the student quarter, and mentioned that Thursday evenings are when all the locals hit the bars there. That’s the kind of insider knowledge that makes a trip, you know? Plus, they sorted out my early check-in without any drama, which after a long train ride from Florence was exactly what I needed. The location really shines during aperitivo hour – there’s this little wine bar called Osteria del Sole just a few blocks away that does the thing where you bring your own food but they provide incredible wine. Most tourists never find it, but it’s where the Bologna locals actually go. I ended up there three nights in a row, which probably says something about both the wine and how easy it was to stumble back to the hotel afterward.

Reviews of Lame 15

  • Exceptional – Martin from United Kingdom – 12 July 2025 (10/10)

  • Kanonlägenhet på mycket bra läge! – Erika from Sweden – 7 July 2025 (9/10)

Kanonläge, lugnt men ändå mitt i centrum. Väldigt väl utrustad lägenhet, mycket fräsch och klanderfritt städad. Incheckning med väldigt välkomnande värden Laura var mycket smidig, Laura hade omsorgsfullt ställt kallt vatten i kylen, köpt Kinderägg till barnen och berättade tydligt hur allt funkade i lägenhet.

What could be improved: Bäddsoffan kunde varit mer bekväm för vuxna, men inget egentligen att klaga över. Varmt i lägenheten, men också väldigt hög temperatur utomhus under vistelse i Bologna.

  • Il soggiorno perfetto – Pier from Italy – 29 June 2025 (10/10)

    .
    Torneremo senz'altro.

What could be improved: Nulla. Tutto perfetto.

  • Exceptional – Andreea from Romania – 24 June 2025 (10/10)

Very clean, near to city center, the bus station right in front of the building or 2-3 min to walk to, depending on the direction. A nice surprise were the black-out shades from the windows. We had very wheather, but the AC form the apartment was great.

What could be improved: There was little noise from the big coolers of the building, but with the windows closed you cannot hear them

  • Exceptional – Joannie from Canada – 13 June 2025 (10/10)

Tout était parfait ! Belles attentions de la part de l'hôte à notre arrivée. La propriétaire est très réactive et disponible. L'endroit est parfait pour découvrir Bologne.
    Nous avons adoré notre séjour.

What could be improved: Rien !

  • Perfect place to stay for our family of 4 to explore and enjoy the beautiful city of Bologna! We will definitely come ba – Gayle from United States – 10 June 2025 (10/10)

The property was brand new very clean and modern. Had everything we needed – kitchen was fully equipped with medium sized refrigerator and freezer, mini oven, induction stove, microwave. Lots of storage in all rooms and in the large bathroom. There’s a washer but no dryer but there’s a small drying rack. My favorite is the automatic blackout shades. There’s even an elevator to the 4th floor and the location is excellent, only about a 10 min walk to the Piazza Maggiore and less than 15 mins to the center of the city ie restaurants, shops but also has pharmacy, convenient store, cafe, gelateria a few steps from the apartment. The bus stop is also a few steps on Via Guglielmo Marconi.

What could be improved: It’s not a big deal but maybe have a queen sized bed in the larger bedroom instead of 2 twins for couples.

  • The perfect base for exploring Bologna and surroundings – Adrienn from Romania – 18 May 2025 (10/10)

It is the perfect base for exploring Bologna and surroundings! Loved the proximity to both the train station and the city center

What could be improved: Everything was perfect. The furniture in the kitchen has very sharp edges, watch out for that

  • Our stay was very pleasant, Bologna is really beautiful! – Marina from Greece – 15 May 2025 (8/10)

The apartment is really great, bright and clean with all amenities and on a very short walking distance to all monuments and museums. Laura was very helpful and she always replied to all our questions within 5'.

What could be improved: Our only problem (we were a family with a 4 year old and a baby in a big stroller) was that there are 7-8 steps until you reach the lift. So it is not fully accessible 😔 I think it is needed to be mentioned in the description of the apartment.

  • Ottimo – Anna from Italy – 14 April 2025 (8/10)

Un bell’appartamento vicino al cento di bologna, nuovo e curato ci siamo trovate bene!

  • Apartment was big enough for my family of 6, clean and new. Centrally located in the city. Busy bus stop in front of b – Kimberly from United States – 5 April 2025 (9/10)

The apartment was new and very clean. There was plenty of space for my big family of 6. Centrally located in the city. We were able to walk to great restaurants and sites with in the city. We drove so parking was not ideal, but we found on street parking most nights. The bed in the back room is not put together properly and we could only utilize the twin portion not the entire double bed. Bathroom smelled really bad almost like sewage.
