When I asked about getting to the city center, they didn’t just point toward the train station – they walked me through the local bus routes and mentioned this little osteria about ten minutes away that serves incredible tortellini en brodo. It’s that kind of local insight you just don’t get at the bigger chain places. The rooms are surprisingly spacious for Italy, and I loved that they’ve managed to blend modern comfort with these charming period details. The bathroom had this gorgeous tile work, and honestly, the shower pressure was better than my apartment back home. One thing worth mentioning – if you’re a light sleeper, the rooms facing the street can get a bit of early morning activity (delivery trucks, neighbors heading to work), but it’s nothing compared to staying right in the centro storico.

The whole experience felt more like staying at a well-appointed friend’s place than a typical hotel. Breakfast was served in this lovely little room with windows that catch the morning light perfectly, and they actually had proper espresso – not that watery stuff you sometimes get at tourist places. The 9.3 rating makes total sense when you experience it firsthand; it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in Bologna, but everything they do, they do really well. If you’re looking for something with character that won’t break the bank but still feels special, and you don’t mind being a short ride from the main tourist circuit, this place hits that sweet spot. Plus, parking is actually manageable in this area – which anyone who’s tried to navigate Bologna by car will tell you is worth its weight in gold.
