This gorgeous green facade climbs up the building on Via Morgagni, which honestly feels like stepping into a quieter, more residential Bologna that most tourists never see. The street itself is this lovely tree-lined stretch that’s maybe a fifteen-minute walk from the main action around Piazza Maggiore, but worlds away from the tourist chaos. I actually discovered this place by accident when I got lost looking for the university district – turns out the hotel sits right in that sweet spot between academic Bologna and the historic center.

The building has this wonderful early 20th-century character that they’ve restored really thoughtfully. Walking into the lobby, there’s this immediate sense of calm – maybe it’s the original terrazzo floors or the way afternoon light filters through those tall windows, but something about the space just works. The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid four-star place, nothing revolutionary but genuinely comfortable with these nice touches like locally-made linens and bathrooms that actually have decent water pressure (trust me, not a given in older Italian buildings). I stayed in a room facing the courtyard, which meant blissful quiet at night – crucial since Italian streets can get pretty lively, especially on weekends.

What really sets this place apart, though, is how it feels authentically Bolognese rather than generically Italian. The staff clearly knows the neighborhood inside and out – they pointed me toward this incredible tortellini place on Via delle Moline that I never would have found otherwise, and gave me the heads up about the Saturday morning market at Piazza delle Mercanzie. The hotel’s breakfast spread includes proper local specialties too, not just the usual continental setup. I mean, where else are you going to get fresh mortadella and Parmigiano-Reggiano di Modena at 8 AM? The whole experience feels like staying with knowledgeable locals rather than just checking into another hotel. Sure, it’s not luxury-level glamorous, but honestly? That 8.2 rating feels about right – it’s the kind of place that does everything well without trying too hard to impress, which somehow makes it more impressive. If you’re looking to experience Bologna like someone who actually lives there, rather than just hitting the obvious tourist spots, this is your spot.

  walking distance, nice bars and restaurants all around. The check in went smooth, the host was helpful and responsive. The apartment itself is spacious and very clean and comfortable, and although it has very little natural light, it was not a problem for us. We were provided with everything we needed and were even welcomed with some sweet treats! The only downside was the absence of Wi-Fi. We had a very great stay at Casa dell’Edera and would like to be your guests again sometimes, thank you!

  Appartamento nuovo e pet friendly a due passi da piazza maggiore. Sotto all’appartamento è presente il comodo Garage Marconi, che ci ha registrato la targa per l’accesso in ztl. Tutto pulitissimo e a nostra disposizione c’erano tantissime varietà di bevande e di dolci per la colazione. Ringraziamo il responsabile Guido per le preziose indicazioni per la cena. Sarà il nostro riferimento per le visite a Bologna
