It’s not actually a hotel at all – it’s this incredibly well-designed apartment that feels like you’re staying at a stylish friend’s place in Bologna. The moment I walked into the space on Via Gherardo Forni, I got it. This isn’t some sterile accommodation; it’s got personality, starting with that terrace that honestly makes the whole experience.

The location is pretty brilliant, actually. You’re in a proper residential neighborhood, which means you get to see how Bolognesi actually live – morning coffee routines, kids heading to school, the whole rhythm of the city. It’s about a 15-minute walk to the historic center, but here’s the thing: that walk takes you through some of the most authentic parts of Bologna. I mean, you’ll pass local bakeries where the smell of fresh bread hits you around 7 AM, and there’s this little market on weekday mornings where vendors still shout prices in thick Emilian dialect. The apartment itself feels like someone who actually understands design lives there – not that generic IKEA-everywhere look you get in most rentals. The kitchen (fitting, given the name) is properly equipped, and I found myself cooking way more than I planned because, well, when you’re in Bologna and there’s a decent kitchen, you sort of have to hit the local markets. The terrace is where you’ll probably spend your evenings though – it’s got this view that’s not spectacular or anything, but it’s real Bologna, you know? Red rooftops, that particular golden light you get in Emilia-Romagna around sunset, the distant sound of Vespas navigating narrow streets.

What really sets this place apart is the attention to details that actually matter. The shower has proper water pressure (trust me, this isn’t always a given in Italian apartments), the wifi works everywhere including the terrace, and – this might sound small but it’s huge – the beds are comfortable in that way where you don’t wake up feeling like you wrestled with the mattress all night. The building itself is quiet; my room faced an internal courtyard, so no street noise, which in Bologna can be a real blessing. Kurt clearly knows what travelers need because there are power outlets where you’d actually want them, decent lighting for reading, and enough space to properly unpack without living out of your suitcase. Honestly, it’s the kind of place where you start planning your return visit before you’ve even checked out. The 9-star rating makes complete sense once you’re there – it’s not trying to be fancy, it’s just really, really well done.

  Heerlijk ruim appartement, compleet en overal aangedacht!
  
  What could be improved: Helaas is het wat lastiger met OV of Taxi ergens te komen, bussen komen soms niet opdagen in de stad en een taxi standplaats is er niet in de buurt. Het zal mij niet weerhouden een keer terug te komen!
