il covino Bologna – monolocale Overview
Look, I’ve stayed in my fair share of Bologna apartments, and il covino is honestly one of those places that just gets it right. The location on Via Emilia Levante is perfect – you’re basically in Zona Universitaria where actual Bolognese live, not some touristy bubble. I mean, there’s a reason this place has a 9.7 rating, and it’s not just because the host is friendly (though they really are).
The monolocale itself is what I’d call thoughtfully compact – everything you need without feeling cramped. What really impressed me was how quiet it stays, even though you’re on a main street. The building has these thick walls that you don’t really find in newer constructions, so you can actually sleep past 7 AM without hearing every Vespa that goes by. The kitchen setup is surprisingly well-equipped too; I actually cooked a few meals instead of eating out every night, which honestly saved me a ton since Bologna isn’t exactly cheap anymore. You know what’s nice? They’ve got proper coffee gear, not just some sad instant stuff – and in Italy, that matters more than you’d think.
The area is where this place really shines though. You’re a 15-minute walk from Piazza Maggiore, but more importantly, you’re surrounded by the kind of neighborhood spots that make Bologna special. There’s this little osteria called Al Sangiovese literally around the corner that serves the best tortellini in brodo I’ve had outside of someone’s nonna’s kitchen. The university is right there, so the whole area has this vibrant energy without being rowdy – students here actually study, imagine that. Plus, you’re close enough to the train station (about 20 minutes walking) that day trips to Florence or Venice are totally doable, but far enough away that you don’t deal with the chaos of all the tourists dragging their luggage around at 6 AM. Parking can be tricky if you’re driving – Bologna’s centro storico rules are no joke – but honestly, you won’t need a car here anyway. The host was super helpful with the whole ZTL situation and even gave me tips on where to find the best gelato (spoiler: it’s not at the tourist spots). One thing to note – this is a real residential building, so don’t expect a hotel lobby experience, but that’s part of the charm. You get your own space, your own rhythm, and you feel like you’re actually living in Bologna for a few days instead of just passing through.

Superb – Leandro from Portugal – 20 May 2025 (9/10)
The location was just perfect for our purpose, train station was less than 5m away, general store was less than 5m away, and with multiple bus stops nearby. The apartement itself was excellent.
What could be improved: The only "bad" thing we would point out were the beds especially the sofa bed which made quite a bit of noise but that's normal for a sofa bed, also the pillow could be a little more inflated.Exceptional – Ilaria from Italy – 27 March 2025 (10/10)

Every detail very well organized. The place offered all I need for a comfortable stay. The host kindly replied promptly to all my doubts provindind my a perfect time in Bologna. In the neighborhood there are good restaurants (Pinterrè is my favorite), supermarket, coffee shop, farmacy, bus and train.
Nice and decent place to stay. – Theodore from Greece – 28 September 2024 (10/10)
The apartment is full of amenities. All the appliances work well. Everything are well designed to serve the visitor. Good location. Hundred meters from the train station and twenty from the bus station. Rossella is helpful and cooperative.

Świetny nocleg, apartament zadbany i czysty, gospodarze dbają o gości zostawiając im poczęstunek w formie prowiantu. Bezproblemowy kontakt z gospodarzem, jak i świetna lokalizacja.
