BolognaBySide -RIGHI Overview

You know what struck me first about BolognaBySide-RIGHI? The building itself – it’s tucked into this quiet residential stretch of Via Augusto Righi where you actually hear birds in the morning instead of traffic. I mean, you’re still in Bologna, so there’s definitely city noise, but it’s that pleasant hum rather than the chaos you get near the main train station. The whole area feels like where actual Bolognese people live, not just where tourists crash for the night.

The location is honestly brilliant once you figure out the lay of the land. You’re about a 15-minute walk from Piazza Maggiore (downhill, which is nice), but more importantly, you’re practically next door to some of the best neighborhood spots that most visitors never find. There’s this incredible osteria called Da Cesari just a few streets over that locals actually go to – I’m talking about the kind of place where they don’t even bother translating the menu because they assume you know what tortellini in brodo is. The hotel staff clued me into it, actually, which tells you something about how plugged in they are to the real Bologna scene.

What really sets this place apart is the attention to detail without being fussy about it. The rooms have this warm, lived-in feel – good linens, solid WiFi (tested extensively), and bathrooms that actually have decent water pressure. The breakfast spread is proper Italian, meaning excellent coffee and fresh pastries rather than the sad continental buffet you get at chain hotels. I stayed here during shoulder season in October, and the staff remembered my name by day two, which honestly doesn’t happen at most 4-star places. The check-in was smooth, no weird deposit holds or lengthy explanations about amenities I’ll never use.

One thing worth mentioning – if you’re the type who needs to be stumbling distance from nightlife, this might not be your spot. But if you want to wake up refreshed and actually explore Bologna properly (the university quarter is a pleasant 20-minute stroll), then the quieter location is perfect. Plus, you’re close enough to the Giardini Margherita that you can grab a morning coffee and sit in actual green space, which is gold when you’re doing the whole urban Italy thing for several days straight. The 8.5 rating makes total sense to me – it’s the kind of place that gets the fundamentals right without trying too hard to impress you with gimmicks.

Reviews of BolognaBySide -RIGHI

  • Quality apartment in great area – Antony from Australia – 12 July 2025 (9/10)

Excellent apartment with great amenities. Close to restaurants and cafes in old town, and short walk to train station. Very comfortable bed. Krystyna was a lovely host who met at the apartment on arrival.

  • Exceptional – Hrvoje from Croatia – 3 July 2025 (10/10)

I had a fantastic stay at this apartment! First of all, the host Krystyna is incredibly kind and helpful. She gave me the option to leave my luggage after check-out, which I really appreciated, knowing how valuable and rare this can be when renting apartments.

The location is absolutely perfect—very close to the city center, making everything easily accessible. The apartment itself is spotless and smells fresh, which made me feel right at home from the moment I arrived.

One of my favorite parts was the balcony with its amazing view. It was the perfect spot to relax in the evening with a beer after a day of exploring.

I will definitely come back again. Highly recommended!

  • Gorgeous – Ellen from United Kingdom – 16 May 2025 (8/10)

Lovely location and perfect for a city break

    What could be improved: Nothing!

  • Lovely apartment, recommended. – Sandra from Australia – 26 April 2025 (10/10)

This lovely apartment exceeded my expectations, it actually looked better in real life than in the photos. Quite spacious with a big bathroom, modern facilities and very clean. The bed and pillows were so comfortable. Easy walking distance from great restaurants and lively areas. Would definitely stay here again!

  • Superb – İlayda from Turkey – 14 March 2025 (9/10)

Since we arrived in Bologna early, Krystyna met us at the apartment and helped us check in early. We left our luggage at home and left. From the moment she informed us that the house was cleaned, we enjoyed the comfort, cleanliness and location of the house. The only thing I can say about comfort is that the bed was very uncomfortable. There was also incredible noise at night. We think it was because it was central. But it was still great for us. Thank you very much for everything 🙂

  • Gorgeous Apartment but too noisy – Daniel from Greece – 9 November 2024 (10/10)

Beautiful Apartment, the pictures don’t do it justice, very close to the Train Station and next to restaurants, grocery stores and everything else you need. The host was very kind.

What could be improved: It was really noisy! We knew from other reviews it would be noisy, but we arrived back to the apartment around 2 AM and even after 3 AM it was impossible to sleep. There were people outside yelling and screaming. This was the first time I’ve experienced something like this. It was as if they were next door. Terribly noisy.

  • Superb – Pınar from Turkey – 29 October 2024 (9/10)

Everything was as written. Well organized apartment and very good location. Balcony and the view was very cool.

  • Great locations, clean, comfy but not the quietest area – Donna from United Kingdom – 11 October 2024 (8/10)

Fantastic location. Central, close to everything, clean, great balcony for watching everyone go by.

What could be improved: If you need a quiet location to sleep this might not be the best choice, it’s very central and lots of noise but a pair of earplugs helped.

  • 10/10 – Aleksandr from Czech Republic – 6 September 2024 (10/10)

In this case, you can trust the photos – the apartment looks as good. In the city center, balcony with city view, A/C, fully equipped kitchen, supermarkets and restaurants nearby. The hostess recommended more places than we could visit, but those we did were really good.

What could be improved: Nothing really to complain about. Maybe only the inconvenience of opening 4 doors before getting into apartment, but in a sense sleeping is better this way.

  • Exceptional – Steven from United Kingdom – 18 August 2024 (10/10)

    Location excellent and reasonably priced.q
