You know what? I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to HouSmart Emilia Levante 98 – I mean, the name sounds pretty corporate, right? But honestly, this place surprised me in the best way possible. It sits right on Via Emilia Levante in the Savena district, which is actually perfect if you want to experience Bologna like a local instead of being stuck in the touristy center. The building itself has this modern, clean look that doesn’t try too hard to be flashy, and when you walk in, there’s this immediate sense that someone actually thought about how real people would use this space.

The location is what really sold me, though. You’re about a 15-minute tram ride from the historic center – and I mean, the tram stop is literally right there, which saved me so much hassle with parking (because let’s be real, driving in Bologna’s center is a nightmare). But here’s the thing most people don’t realize: being in Savena means you’re surrounded by actual neighborhoods where Bolognese people live and work. There’s this fantastic little osteria about three blocks away that I never would have found if I’d stayed downtown, and the morning routine of grabbing coffee with locals heading to work… well, it just felt more authentic than the tourist bubble.

The rooms are smart – and I don’t just mean the tech stuff, though there’s plenty of that. Everything feels thoughtfully designed, from the way the lighting actually works for reading (thank you!) to storage that makes sense for real suitcases, not just weekend bags. I stayed on the fourth floor and it was surprisingly quiet, even though Via Emilia Levante can get busy during rush hour. The staff genuinely seemed to know the city – when I asked about getting to the university area, the front desk guy didn’t just give me directions, he mentioned which bus would be less crowded and warned me about construction on Via Massarenti. That kind of local insight is gold when you’re trying to navigate a new city efficiently. The whole experience felt less like staying at a hotel and more like having a well-connected friend let you crash at their really nice place. With a 9.4 rating, I expected it to be good, but what I didn’t expect was how much I’d actually enjoy the area and how smoothly everything would work – from the key cards that never failed to the breakfast timing that actually matched when normal humans want to eat.

  Excellent guest with very good explanations on how to get there and gat the keys. Appartment is perfect, very spacious, very high quality. Big plus is the parking space included. Our bets stay in Italy so far. Appartment is about 50 mn walk from Piazza Maggiore, this has to be taken into account. You can either walk or use parkings just outside the ZTL, like at the train station.

  Mieszkanie fajnie urządzone i ze wszystkimi niezbędnymi rzeczami. Pod mieszkaniem sklep i przystanek autobusowy, kilka minut do małej stacji pociągu.

  Apartment nicely decorated and with all the necessary things. Under the apartment there is store and bus stop, a few minutes walk to a small train station.

  Everything was perfect, apartment seems to be brand new, rooms are spacious, it has 2 large bathrooms, kitchen and balcony. We arrived with 2 cars and had free parking for both. There are lovely local caffes nearby and super market is next to the appartment. Also theres a nice pub called "Old Bridge Pub" 5 minutes by foot with delicious traditional food and varities of beers.
