You know what struck me first about Bed & Breakfast CENTRALE? The name actually undersells it – this isn’t some cramped attic room with questionable linens. It’s properly a 4-star place, and honestly, it shows from the moment you walk through the door on Via Amendola. The building itself has that solid, dignified Bologna feel (you know, the kind where you can tell it’s been hosting travelers for decades), but inside they’ve managed to keep things fresh without going overboard with trendy nonsense.

The location is just… well, it’s sort of perfect if you actually want to experience Bologna rather than just Instagram it. Via Amendola runs right into the university quarter, so you’re literally a 5-minute walk from Piazza Maggiore – but here’s the thing locals know: you’re close enough to duck into Osteria del Sole for lunch or grab morning coffee at that little place on Via Petroni, but far enough from the tourist chaos that you can actually sleep at night. I mean, the rooms are surprisingly quiet considering you’re in the heart of everything. The breakfast situation is legitimately good too – they do this thing with local cheeses and prosciutto that honestly makes hotel breakfast chains look embarrassing.

What really gets me is how the staff actually seems to know Bologna. Like, when I asked about dinner recommendations, the guy at the front desk didn’t just hand me a generic tourist map – he started talking about this tiny trattoria near San Stefano where they do tortellini in brodo the way his grandmother made it. That’s the kind of place knowledge you get when people actually live here, not just work here. The 8.6 rating makes sense when you stay there – it’s not trying to be the flashiest place in town, but everything works properly. The WiFi doesn’t cut out every ten minutes, the shower has decent pressure, and the beds are actually comfortable (I’m looking at you, every other Italian B&B I’ve stayed at). Sure, you might hear some street noise if you’re a super light sleeper, but that’s Bologna for you – it’s a living city, not a museum. Plus, being right there means you can stumble back from Via del Pratello after a proper night out without needing to figure out taxis or night buses.

  Location is good for me. Being near the train station yet only a 10-15 minutes walk into main area along lovely street of shops.
  
  What could be improved: I had a person next to me. I think it was not from the hotel but on the same floor. The television in their room was on until past midnight and effected my sleep.
