HouSmart Corte Galluzzi 7/2 Overview

So I stayed at HouSmart Corte Galluzzi 7/2 last month, and honestly? I almost walked right past it. The entrance is tucked into this narrow medieval courtyard that you’d never notice unless you were looking for it – which is actually perfect because you feel like you’ve discovered some secret Bologna hideaway. It’s on the third floor (no elevator warning, but the climb is worth it), and the moment you step inside, you get why this place has an 8.3 rating. The apartment-style setup is smart – I mean, really smart – with modern touches that somehow don’t clash with the old Bologna charm. You know what struck me most? The windows. They’re these tall, beautiful things that let in this gorgeous golden light in the afternoon, and you can actually hear the city waking up below without feeling like you’re sleeping on Via Rizzoli.

The location is honestly unbeatable if you want to experience Bologna like someone who actually lives here. You’re maybe a three-minute walk from Piazza Maggiore, but more importantly, you’re right in the heart of where locals do their thing. There’s this little enoteca around the corner that I stumbled into every evening – the kind of place where the owner remembers your wine preference by day two. And the morning routine? Pure magic. I’d grab coffee from the bar downstairs (well, technically next door), then wander through the Quadrilatero market grabbing fresh bread and mortadella for breakfast. The apartment comes with a proper kitchen, which I actually used – something I rarely bother with at hotels. The whole setup makes you feel less like a tourist and more like you’re borrowing a friend’s really nice place in the centro storico.

Here’s the thing about staying here though – it’s not luxury in the traditional sense. The furnishings are sleek and comfortable, everything works perfectly, but you’re not getting marble bathrooms or turndown service. What you are getting is something better: authentic Bologna living with all the modern conveniences you actually need. The WiFi is solid (I worked from there a few mornings), the shower pressure is excellent, and the bed is genuinely comfortable. Plus, and this matters if you’re planning to explore, you’re positioned perfectly to walk everywhere that matters. San Petronio, the university quarter, all those incredible trattorias everyone talks about – they’re all within easy walking distance. I’d definitely book this place again, especially if you’re the type of traveler who wants to feel connected to the city rather than insulated from it. Just remember to pack light if you’re not great with stairs!

Reviews of HouSmart Corte Galluzzi 7/2

  • Perfect location for exploring Bologna. – Kathrina from United Kingdom – 6 July 2025 (10/10)

The location is amazing, moments from the Piazza Maggiore and with an excellent range of restaurants and cafes in walking distance. The apartment itself was very comfortable and well laid out.

What could be improved: The Booking.com site listed an iron and ironing board as part of the facilities, but I couldn't spot them if so. It also implied there was locker storage on site, which was not true: there are lots of luggage storage facilities nearby though.

  • Exceptional – Kathrin from Germany – 8 May 2025 (10/10)

  • Cold – Oskar from Poland – 24 February 2025 (1/10)

    Lokalizacja

What could be improved: Zimno, skandalicznie zimno. Nie można było włączyć ogrzewania. Grzejniki zimne. Na dworze poniżej zera. Nie wiem jak właściciel sobie wyobraża spanie w takich warunkach

  • Exceptional – Anna from Belarus – 17 February 2025 (10/10)

The apartment is situated in the heart of the old town but it was quiet and peaceful all the time. All the facilities were clean and new. The heating worked well and the beds were comfy. We used Internet for work during our stay and its speed was around 70 Mbps – greatly appreciate that. And the table with this lamp in the living room was the best working spot so far.
The check-in/out was via lock-box, we got very detailed instructions.

  • Superb – Monika from Slovakia – 21 July 2024 (9/10)
