Casa Miramonte Overview
Casa Miramonte sits on this quiet little side street about ten minutes from Bologna’s main piazza, and honestly, that’s exactly where you want to be. The moment I walked in, I knew someone had put actual thought into this place – there’s this warm, lived-in elegance that feels more like staying at a cultured friend’s apartment than some corporate hotel chain.
The building itself is one of those beautiful old Bolognese structures with that gorgeous terracotta facade, but what really got me was how they’ve managed to keep all the character while making everything actually work for modern travelers. You know what I mean? The rooms have these original ceiling details and proper shutters that actually block out light (thank god, because Italian morning sun is no joke), but the wifi is solid and the shower pressure is fantastic. My room looked out over a little internal courtyard where you could hear the gentle clatter of dishes from the restaurant below – it’s that kind of authentic neighborhood sound that makes you feel like you’re really living in Bologna for a while.
The staff here actually knows the city, which is rarer than you’d think. When I asked about getting to the Quadrilatero market area, the guy at the front desk didn’t just point me toward the tourist traps – he told me which salumeria his grandmother shops at and warned me that Via dell’Indipendenza gets crazy crowded after 11am on weekends. Little things like that. The breakfast spread was proper Italian style (none of that international buffet nonsense), with really good cappuccino and cornetti that were obviously made that morning. They set it up in this bright room with big windows, and you can sit there planning your day while watching the neighborhood wake up.
I’ll be honest – it’s not the cheapest option in Bologna, but for a 4-star place with this kind of attention to detail, it feels like good value. The location is perfect if you want to walk everywhere but still get some peace at night. Via Miramonte itself is quiet enough that you can sleep with the windows open, but you’re literally a few blocks from all the best restaurants and that incredible covered market. Plus, if you’re traveling with luggage, the front desk will actually help you figure out the best route from the train station instead of just handing you a generic map.
The whole place has this understated sophistication that Bologna does so well – nothing flashy or trying too hard, just really good taste and genuine hospitality. I mean, when you’re staying somewhere that the locals would actually recommend to their visiting friends, you know you’ve found something special.

Reviews of Casa Miramonte
An absolute gem of a hotel – I couldn’t recommend highly enough – Karen from United Kingdom – 27 June 2025 (10/10)
An absolute gem of a hotel – my room was gorgeous and the staff could not have been more helpful. I would recommend 100%
What could be improved: One tiny thing – having to ask for a key to the safe from reception. It would have been easier if I’d have been asked when I checked in and paid any deposit then and there which I would have been happy to do.Very nice hotel in a great location – Victoria from United Kingdom – 26 June 2025 (8/10)
The lady who checked us in was very pleasant and even gave a Casa Miramonte tote bag as my birthday present! The location was great, just out of the city center and an easy walk to Old Town. Aircon was a life saver in our room.
What could be improved: Could have been more responsive on the Booking.com chat – I asked a question about storing our luggage behind the reception after check-out and wasn't responded to.Exceptional – Sergey from United States – 20 June 2025 (10/10)
Close to center, quiete, very safe
Exceptional – Catherine from Australia – 10 June 2025 (10/10)
Gorgeous and very comfortable room felt like a cosy country home but is close to everything! Great shops, restaurants, cafes in a quiet family neighbourhood, would have loved to stay longer!
Lovely little BnB – Lauren from United Kingdom – 12 May 2025 (10/10)
The people that run it are super lovely and friendly! They were very helpful! Everything is clean and in good condition and the room is full of character. Also the bed was super comfy! we had a lovely stay and would definitely return ☺️
What could be improved: Wasn’t really anything we didn’t like, the room was on the smaller side but that’s to be expected was still enough room for us ☺️Great experience in bologna – Jasmijn from Netherlands – 16 April 2025 (8/10)

The room was very clean and the host Marina was super nice and helpful!
What could be improved: The room was quite small and had the view of the wall of the other building, so it was quite dark (we had the camera Rosa).A classic, romantic getaway – Natalia from Germany – 14 December 2024 (10/10)
It’s a dream location with dream facilities. It feels like a romantic movie (with a personal room sauna included)
Exquisite clean and very cozy.
What could be improved: Check out at 10:30 could be a bit prolongued. Nobody wants to leave such a beautiful stay so early!Charming little hotel with a wonderful attention to detail. – Jonathan from Denmark – 18 November 2024 (9/10)
The attention to detail. The atmosphere. The staff. The location. The sauna.
What could be improved: A wardrobe was missing to make room for the sauna. Otherwise definitely nothing to complain about.
